The fact that Sprecher was found resting so near town by Squire Horning, coupled with the fact that he rode into and out of the town with the stolen horses, alut 9 o'clock in the moaning, has led to an expression of conjectures on the theft. Smie conjecture that he must 1k in his right niind to act so iumtIv. Others conjecture that he confused nv the darkness oi the night ami missed the road north bv and instead of going out the road by Cuba Mill dam, he took the road that bads through the Mover farm into the woods where Horning discovered him.

Others conjecture that as there were three tracks lead in-? to his campintr place on the riihre. and one track away from down the ridge by the way he went up. that he was piloted to that place- by a third party from Solomon Shirk's barn, and in coroboration of that coniecture they cite the fact that a second horse of Shirk's out of the stable and from its pearance hatl Wen on the road had been l'iddcn.
