the entire assembly lines at both plants to shut down This was the second day in a row that workers left their jobs complaining of the heat On Tuesday about 250 paint-shop workers at Plant No I walked out after about 90 minutes of work The plant has no air conditioning Doug Nicoll a Chrysler spokesman said the buildings were ventilated and workers were given ice paint shop Willie Benton 54 of Kirkwood collapsed Wednesday evening and was rushed to St Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood where he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later said Suzanne Campbell a hospital spokeswoman Campbell said an autopsy was to be performed today She said it had not been determined yet to be a heat-related death Shortly after Benton collapsed several hundred paint-shop workers at Chrys- Quinn violated right to medical treatment without interference from a law enforcement officer No other officers were named in the indictment although it noted that Quinn that day commanded other officers identities are known to the grand to interfere with treatment Because the charge is a misdemeanor and not a felony a conviction would not disqualify Quinn from holding office But Kansas Attorney General Bob Stephan has said he plans to study whether actions constituted malfeasance in office Under Kansas law Stephan could seek removal under a civil procedure if he finds Quinn neglected his duty or performed it in a corrupt or oppressive manner to set a trial for August If found guilty Quinn faces a maximum $1000 fine and one year in jail A federal grand jury in Kansas City Kan indicted Quinn last month The indictment alleged that in July 1986 Quinn disconnected intravenous and oxygen tubes from Damone Cribbs against the advice of Bethany Medical Center emergency room staff Quinn and his deputies took Cribbs who had suffered a respiratory attack from the hospital to attend a sentencing in Wyandotte County District Court Cribbs received a probation for stealing a wallet from a purse Cribbs was in critical condition when deputies returned him about 30 minutes later according to hospital records The indictment said actions deprived Cribbs of his constitutional right to due process and alleged
