Oscar Kedemann of Magdalena was in town Monday on his wav to Albmpnerque to meet his wife and child on their way home from a vist of several weeks in southern California. The public school opened last Tuesday with Fdna Anderson principal and MissLolita Alexander assistant.

Lowe and child arrived in Socorro Wednesday morning from Kl Paso with the expectation of becoming per-! manent residents of the Gem City. Mr. Lowe is a son of Gen- eral Manager Lowe of the Pan- American Federal Smelting and Refining company. Hon. W.

K. Martin returned home Sunday morning from a vacation of several weeks spent in Los Angeles and vicinity. Mr. Martin enjoyed his vacation greatly and was much benefited in health by it. He at once resumed boosting for the fair and may bo safely depended upon to do his full share of that important work.

County Clerk K. H. Sweet and Assessor A. D. Haca returned Thursday from a trip of several days duration over the western part of the county.

They report the country from the Datils westward in better condition than In-fore for years, but the roads in the district in very bad condition. According to their statement, miners in the western part of the county are receiving from $2 to $4 a day, and the supply is short of the demand. Laugh on Her Side.
