The win enabled Fontana to finish with a 7-7 record in league and a 14-12 overall mark. CIF 5A No.8-ranked Colton, which had clinched its second consecutive CBL title last week, finished with a 12-2 record and will take a 17-5-1 overall record into the CIF playoffs. Senior center fielder Mike Sylvester slapped a two-RBI triple and scored twice for Fontana.

Down 3-1 in the third, the Steelers took the lead when Quiroz doubled home a run and scored on a single by junior right fielder Mark Carter. Catcher Erie Ganino increased the lead to 3-1 with another RBI single. Sylvester's two-run triple followed in the fourth. Hancock allowed three runs on three hits and four walks. All but two of the outs he recorded came on strikeouts as he struck out the side four times.
