Social Workers Club Who met last 1 night at the Young Women's Christian Association building The suggestion was the principal feature of a report on mov ing picture shows which was placed be fore the club by a committee appointed for the purpose Members of the club who participated in the discussion of the proposition de clared that the establishment of a cen sorship offers the only practicable method to insure the use of high class films The board is successful in other cities and it can be made effectual in Indianapolis members of the society asserted It is proposed to consider means where by the various Indianapolis organizations may join in having representation upon the' board and the society also will sug gest it to Mayor advisory com mission as essential to any legislation on moving pictures which may be passed A committee of which Miss Alice Gray don is chairman will consider means for the organization of the board OERS OTHER SUGGESTIONS The committee also offered a number of other suggestions for the regulation of moving picture shows It was suggested that the aisles in the showhouses be made wide and that no chairs be placed in the corridors A rigid enforcement of a provision which forbids children under 16 years old to visit the shows unattended also was approved Other suggestions re garding the regulation of the picture ma chines and the operators were offered The organization approved the report of the committee which was continued to offer suggestions at the next meeting for carrying out the provisions contained in the report Members of the club said that In the majority of instances the pictures now being shown here are excellent A few shows however are presenting sensa tional films they said The club members also engaged in an informal discussion of a suggestion to provide free legal aid for the poor of the city although no definite action was taken The members said that in many instances the poor of Indianapolis have suffered
