The ABC comedy Madeline" (8:30 tonight on channels 2 and 9) is one with emphasis on short of being a funny funny show Madeline Kahn is simply the greatest at grasping commonplace situations and turning them into sidesplitting comedy But James Sloyan who plays her husband Charlie OK but MaJdine should be opposite Gene Wilder as she was in several Mel Brooks movies Madeline without Gene is like the comedy team of Hardy the rib-tickling duo of Costello the vaudeville tandem of Sheen Maybe is supposed to be an update of Love Lucille Ball portrayed a woman who got into the strangest frienddespised enemy of the Waynes a bit like Charlie in that he falls in the shadow of Miss comedy skills Because he has a frequent role as best friend and despised enemy he probably ought to fulfill a role more substantial than neighborhood womanizer contains some funny scenes but they all belong to Miss Kahn Without her the laughs are ho-hum Max who still loves Joanne but how does he dump his
