THE TAR EJE 0: IS LOCAL VIEW POST CARDS ONE CENT EACH AT 01STOS 0 NOTED MEN COMING TULAN UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA MEDICAL DEPARTMENT SINCE 1834 THIS SCHOOL HAS OCCUPIED A DISTINCT POSITION IN THE MEDICAL EDUCATION OF THES UNITED STATES. In the recent reports from the Carnegie Foundation and the national institutions of authority, Tulane has leen uniformly classed among the leading medical colleges of the country. The students are charged fees which are commensurate with those charged at other institutions, which are smaller than the fees charged at any institution with equal facilities of education. The Charity Hospital and the Touro Infirmary annually elect oner twenty resident physicians among the graduates of Tulane and additionally afford clinics and amphitheatre teaching for the education of Junior and Senior students. Nearly five thousand graduates from this school have carried its teachings into practice among the people of the South chiefly, but as well to every part of tfw world. With each advance in the requirements of medical education, the University of Louisiana has met all conditions, until today Tulane ranks in the first class of medical institutions of learning, with opportunities for ciinical instruction which are unsurpassed in the Attractive Lecture Series Under Faculty Auspices The committee selected from the faculty to arrange for a series of lectures to be given this spring, has announced the dates of these lectures.

Two speakers of these series have already been. henrd here, and 'the attention accorded them has been most gratifying. On March 14, under the auspices of the medical department, will come Dr. J. Whitridge Williams, dean of the medical department of John Hopkins University.

Dr. Will'ams will speak not before the entire student body but probably in Chemistry Hall. His address will probably be directed toward some phases of medical education. On March 28 will come Prof. Percy II Boynton of the University of Chicago.

Dr. Boynton will lecture on "Victoria or London of the Victorian Era. Dr. Guilford completely ot Carolina in the first half and led at the close, 29 to 9. The second half was much closer, the score in United Nates arid eq few other places.

Joseph A. Holmes, former State Geologist and geology professor in the University, but now Director of the Bureau of Mines at Washington, will give two illustrated lectures probably on April 25 on 26. Dr. Holmes recently visited Panama where he inspected the Panama Canal and his- lecture before the University, illustrated with lantern slides, will give the results of this tour of investigation. At this time the opening of the Canal is imminent, and an illustrated lecture on this subject seems peculiarly timely.

On the following night he will give another lecture before the Elisha Mitchell Scientlic Society on the important work now being done under his directorship in the Bureau of Mines. On May 2 President D. H. Hill os the A. M.

College will deliver the last lecture of the series.
