At this merry Christmas time accept our sincerest appreciation for the patronage which has come from every section, and may no sorrow, no misfortune or no tear drop bedim this the greatest Christmas. A very merry Christmas, a very prosperous New Year, is our wish. W.S.S. JUST ONE MORE THING. Several months past before Peace even fluttered numbers of citizens in good faith and with patriotic impulses pledged to take War Savings Stamps and indicated where they would redeem these pledges.

Peace has come, and many of these pledges are unredeemed. The time for redemption was stated as 1918. It is urgent that these pledges be kept. Peace does not effect an agreement. Uncle Sam took the American people at their word and spent the money which was pledged.

W.S.S. AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON HENDERSON ROAD Last Friday night while driving a horse and buggy on the Afton road, Mrs. Mary Eleanor Price-Grant and brother Mr. William S. Price were driven into by a colored man driving a Ford without lights.

The accident occured near the home of Mr. John Daniel. The force of the impact threw Mrs. Grant out of the buggy and against the windshield which her left forearm shattered as she protectingly threw it in front of her face. Her arm was slightly cut and her face bruised.

Neither Mr. Price or the occupants of the Ford were hurt other than a general shakeup. The horse was bruised up, the buggy damaged to some extent and the Ford lost the Lenses on the lights, a damaged fender and a shatterer windshield. SOME WHO HAVE WORKED. This issue would be incomplete as the closing volume of 1918 if we did not pay just and warm tribute to that vast number of workers in the Stay-at-Home Army. Though free from the music of war, these patriots of the highest order have kept step to sacrifice and have looked to the welfare of those at home and away. To begin to name this army is end less, but we must pause to pay thanks to the untiring work of the Local Board, Messrs. V.

F. Ward, C. H. Peete and John W. Allen who have rendered faithful, unrelenting war service in a highly efficient manner; to the unexampled devotion to the War Savings Cause by Prof.

John Graham; to the heads of the War Relief Drives in the Countyy, Mrs. Kate P. Arring-ton, of the Red Cross War Fund; to Mr. T. D.

Peck of the United War Work Campaign; to Mr. R. B. Boyd of the Christmas Red Cross Roll Call. In each of these drives and working with tireless energy to make the campaigns a success have been affiliated the patriotic blood of the County distinguished by their action.

Would that space, time and ability were ours to call these by name, but in any event may we thank the people of Warren for responses to every call, may we thank the workers for an endless display of energy, and may we all feel justly proud of the success which has come from every appeal to the Heart, and the Financial. The Stay-at-Home army has been faithful unto the and its martyrs deserve and have, the appreciation of the public. Miss Philena Macon who is suffering from a badly lacerated face and bruised body the result of a plunge into the windshield of the Macon car which hit an ice truck about nine o'clock on this night. The accident necessitated a number of stitches, and was of a most painful nature the faca being cut from the teeth within and by the windshield without. The other members of the family were uninjured beyond a few slight bruises.

Rain on the windshield is responsible for the accident which occured mid-way between here and Norlina. Mr. Macon was passing Mr. Hight both coming to Warrenton, an ice truck going to Norlina, for which Mr. Hight evidently turned out, came between the cars and here the accident occurred.

Mr. Macon's car was thrown to the side and Miss Macon was caught between the windshield and top. Both cars were badly battered. Mount, is spending the holidays here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
