PoruLAR Scotland Neck To these who liye here and cca more of life hero than any where else, Scotland Neck seems almost like a summer resort.

The great throng of visitors here every summer indicates Unpopularity of the town and its people, and it seems that the season thus far this summer has broken' all former records in the number of visitors. Well, everybody i3 glad to see the clever visiters to he- town, and our people are not lacking efforts to give all visitors a good time. They are all warmly welcomed, and ail say "the more the merrier." The Deep Well Work was ius- panded a day or two last week on the well. The rope which swung the drill became so wcrn a new one Jiad to be iut This caused a few days of de- ay, but work is proceeding regularly week. 1 he drillers sav thev have truck rock and so, of course, they are going slowly.

They hope to strike water either in the rock or immediale- below it. Sometimes in sinking iec-p wells of the kind water flows from a fismre in the rock, and that mav be tho case here. Tb.3 well is now 370 eet deep. Some Buildings Needed The ed itor of The Commonwealth is in a position to know something of the-need oi houses in Scotland Neck. We know that frequently there are demands for houses that can noi be met.

There are some cheap houses here for rent moct of tho timo, but now and then there is a call for a house of better quality and with more capacity. We know a gentleman now who wishes to secure a place Scotland Neck and to live hero perhaps two or three jears, but he can not find a house to accommodate him. Some good houses for rent in good parts of the town would be the means of bringing so mo good citizens here, Marriage Near Hobgood. At the -residence of Mrs. A.
