N. Huffman, Abrara Brubaker, Jacob Filbrum, wife and mother-in-law, left last Friday for Trotwood, Ohio, to attend a Convention of the German Baptists. John F. Albright is preparing to open up in tho drug business in the room recently vacated by J. R.

Whitney. John will have a dandy lino of drugs, patent medicines and everything usually found in a first class store. The Lord's Supper will be administered at the Presbyterian church next Sabbath at 7:30 p. m. The pastor and people extend a cordial invitation to all Christian friends to sit together with them at the Lord's table.

It is amusing to see Garnett's young ladies go to the Postoffice and get a letter. They cannot wait till they arrive at home, but they open tho letter, proceed to walk, read, snicker and giggle. It is very unbecoming giris quit it. Mrs. Penniman's recital last Thursday and Friday evenings.was a musical treat.

Mrs. Penniman is an excellent musician and a good teacher, which was fully demonstrated by the competent way in which her pupils handled their pieces. Dr. Bryson went fishing with Ed Foster and Jo Keezel the other day and the boys put up a job him gave.him a buffalo fish and a rifle to carry through town. Most fishermen know how that kind of a fish is caught.

Jim Houston says Doc sold his fish to Haake Van Wie. The Farmers' Alliance, of Jackson township, will have a picnic June 9lh, at Cedar Cieek bridge, near McQuade's farm. Assistant State Lecturer Scott and J. M. Alexander will address the people.

Everybody is invited to attend and bring their baskets full of dinner. A good time is assured as the farmer's wives know how to prepare dinner baskets. A reception was given to Sam Lindsay and wife last Friday evening, on their arrival from Mc-Pherson, at the residence of Dr. Thos. Lindsay.

The guests were verj highley entertained by amuse ments and a delicious banquet, as only such people as the Lindsay's can prepare. They were serenaded by a party of about 15 young men, who were treated with a warm re ception, such as serenaders are not accustomed to. Sam is a graduate of the pharmacy college, at Lawrence, and a bright young man, and has secured for bis partner a beautiful and accomplished young lady. The Jousnal extends congratu lations and wishes them a long life ofhapiness. They left Wednesday for McPherson.
