Union Bosses Urge Ozark Strike End ST. LOUIS (UPI) spokesman for striking mechanics said today union leaders will urge members to end the strike that began April 19. Sam Smith, a spokesman for the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, said the union had not received "an equitable back-to-work agreement" and Local 4 union officers would recommend rejection of the tentative agreement at a membership meeting tonight. Smith said details of the agreement will not be disclosed until after a vote is taken, probably Thurs day. The strike by 560 mechanics has idled an additional 1,800 Ozark employes since all of the airline's flights to 62 cities in 15 states were grounded nearly three weeks ago. A tentative contract agreement was announced Friday night but the technicalities of the back-to- work agreement have prolonged the negotiations between Ozark and the mechanics. A major grievance by the union has been the presence of surveillance equipment in work areas. Union officials say the equipment was originally put there for security but also has been used to spy on workers. Truce Jeep Fired Upon In Vietnam SAIGON (UPI) - Spurts of small arms fire were directed at an international truce team jeep carrying a Canadian warrant officer and a Vietnamese driver Tuesday but neither man was injured, a Canadian truce spokesman said today. Saigon reported a slight increase in Communist truce violations over the past 24 hours and denied as "groundless" charges that government warplanes sprayed toxic chemicals in Viet Cong-controlled territory. A government' spokesman said "only the Communists" are still using chemical warfare in South Vietnam. The Canadian spokesman said the jeep incident occurred in the Mekong Delta on Highway 4 in an area 46 miles southwest of Saigon that both Saigon and the Viet Cong claim. The spokesman said he had no idea who did the firing but said the vehicle was not hit and neither the driver nor his passenger, WO Wilfred Spill meier, was hit. Galtiburg, IU. Church. Special thanks to Pastor Paul Paskewitz, Marie Winkler, George Johnson Jr., the pallbearers and all who - helped In any way at the time of the death of Mary Holmes Allen. Bill Allen Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Allen Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones and Family British Air Crash Blamed on Pilot, Fledgling Crew LONDON (UPI) - A public inquiry today blamed Britain's worst air disaster on cockpit errors, crew inexperience and inadequate training, and a heart attack suffered by the airliner's angry pilot. The nine - week inquiry, how ever, failed to resolve the key mystery—who pulled a lever inside the cockpit of the British European Airways (BEA) Trident, sending the plane into a stall shortly after takeoff from London's Heathrow Airport on June 18, 1972, and why? The Brussels-bound jetliner crashed into a meadow near the airport, killing all 118 persons on board, including 29 Americans. The inquiry's report said the "principal reason" for the crash was the premature retraction of a flap-like "droop" device on the front of the Trident's swept-back wings which enables the rear-engined aircraft to climb steeply on takeoff. The report attributed the early droop-lever retraction to either the "inexperience" of the 22-year-old co-pilot, Jeremy Keighley, or the "impaired mental faculties" of the pilot, Capt. Stanley Key, 51, "or a combination of both." Key's heart attack, suffered shortly before the crash, probably stemmed from a heated argument over a proposed pilots' strike he had in the airline's crew room just before the flight, the report said. WE WISH to thank our friends and neighbors for making our 40th wedding anniversary such a pleasant, one. Thanks for the gifts, cards and flowers and, also the lovely cake baked by Mrs. Walter Hawkins, it was all greatly appreciated. Thanks to Shirley and Walter, you sure gave us a surprise. Richard and Ruby Bjirlow OUR sincere thanks in appreciation for the efforts of the co-workers at the Burlington Northern who tried to revive Carl, the ambulance crew and the Staff at St. Mary's Hospital. Thanks to the BN RR Supervisor and Special Agent who notified the family and relatives. The friends who provided the comfort thru food and other needs for the family. The expression of sympathy thru calls, visits, cards and flowers is greatly appreciated. Also the pallbearers and the kindness of the personnel at the mortuary.
