no one has ever told why. When mothers are worried because the children do not gain strength and flesh we say give them Scott's Emulsion. It is like the penny in the milk because it works and because there is something astonishing about it. Scott's Emulsion is simply a milk of pure cod liver oil with some hypophosphites especially prepared for delicate stomachs. Children take to it naturally because they like the taste and the remedy takes just as naturally to the children because it is so perfectly adapted to their wants.

For a-i weak and pale and thin children Scott's Emulsion is the most satisfactory treatment. We will send you the penny, a sample free. Be sure that this picture in the form cf a label is on the wrapper ot every Louie of Emulsion you buy. SCOTT BOWNE, Chemists, 409 Pearl N. Y.

ILi rffrJttlCftJC I It is not the purpose here to make any promi-es or to autline any policy for The Commonwealth during 1903 but we take space to say that we shall try to serye the publlj "to the best of our ability," as the sp9.ikers used to introduce their remarks the country debnling societies. While many of our readers have disregarded their obligations to us thus iar, we are grateful for the patronage of those who have paid their dues and we start out into the work of the new year with as' bright prospects as we remember to have done at any new year time since our first editorial new year just fifteen years ago. The paper will be for 1903 just what the public makes it possible for it to be. With liboral support It can and will show liberal enterprise but with a poor patronage the enterprise of the paper could not be very marked. If we all do our best we may reasonably hope for success.
