BALL TO THE BAT DEATH, THE REAPER. ME WINSTON SENTINEL. Among tin- visitors to Winston ast week was genial Charlie Askew, a THE PEOPLE'S FORUM. Winston folks can do some pretty tall yam-spining but. nothing equal to this, clipped from an exchange: A lady in the eastern part of this State left an uncovered bucket of sweet milk near the spring one night to keep cool, and upon going to it the next morning she found that a toad had jumped into the milk during the night, and in its frantic efforts to escape had churned the mirk and was now sitting contentedly upon a ball of butter, coolly licking the buttermilk off of its toes. The only story we have heard lately that compares with it is that there was so much rain at Piedmont this summer that all the children grew web-footed.

The club from Kinston played our Winston team last F-iday even'ng. Although composed of well-built men they were no match for Winston's athletes.

His father was telegraphed for, but did not reach Winston until several hours after his death.
