Video Games poor Jim and you lose a ton of life points In another Jim turns up as a blind salamander in a digestive tract full of pinball bumpers Then the chair ride in which Bim climbs up several stairs in one of those chairs for people' who have difficulty climbing As he goes he must dodge old ladies falling from the floors above There are animals galore including pigs Jim uses as weights and cows which get kidnapped in one area and tell you what a great job you've done when you complete a level Graphics are even better than in EWJ1 bizarre and otherworldly with excellent details great colon (green is especially well done) and fantastic variety Sound effects including comments the -sploosh of squishing puppies and the symphonic accompaniment to the salamander section (and the panicked screams when it hits the wriggling red walls) are excellent Control is simple with the d-pad handling Jim's movements and the buttons his guns his whiplilce head and Snott's activities The fun comes in dealing with the challenging puzzles and secret rooms and how to conquer each level's obstacles Creating a sequel that's not a rip-off is touch the folks at Playmate have pulled it off with EWJ2 and proved once again that a 16-bit cart can hold its own against foe new CD players if you put some effort into it Let's go fishin' I'll bring the worm One of the most unlikely video game heroes of all time a worm is making a comeback and even better the second time around Sequels usually satisfying as the original But with Earthworm Jim 2 (Play-mates for SNES) you get the original plus -r remember EWJ pistol-pack-ing wonn with die whippy head off on a quest to find his true love Princess What's-Her- Name while evading his archenemy PtyCrow This time Jim has a bunch of new guns including a screen-clearing Bam Blaster some hooting missiles and a totally useless bubble gun which causes no damage but is fun to watch And he has a new pal a green charmer named Snott who lives in Jim'i backpack Snott isn't a freeloader he earns his keep by turning into a parachute or a sort of Indiana Jones bullwhip sticking to gooey green areas above and letting Jim swing to otherwise out-of-reach places Levels seem even larger and more complicated than before There is a reward though lev-: el-ending bosses are pretty weak 1 There are strange special sections too In be- tween groups of levels Jim must use huge marshmallows to bounce tossed puppies in the air and across a courtyard to a funnel held by Peter the pooch called Puppy Love Jim starts out with four pups credit Each time you miss one and it goes splat one is deducted When the four are gone a vicious dog attacks there is share your poetry ifwith us We publish -V poems from teen 5 writers in our Poetry? remember they have 1 rhyiine If you have a poem please send it to Poetry Comer jTeen Page Record-journal IlCrown St Meriden Conn 06450 Or you may fax it to (203) 639-021 0 or e-mail it to us at: compuservecom Need school advice?
