Judge Hutchison is taking his much needed rest and gone to Colorado and Wyoming to cool oft for a month, and while in Wyoming visit his old Grant county friend, George Perry, of the Rawlins Republican. Is it not far more preferable to Fulmer, a progressive and prosperous soulhside farmer, was here Saturday. Frank Byers was up from Ulysses the first of the week, for a load of lumber andiron. The alfalfa seed crop, from all reports, has been damaged by the hot, dry weather. J.

J. Mohr, of north Kearny, was in Lakin Saturday doing business with the merchants. Mrs. Mary Bartlett, a sister of f. Parman, was here visiting her brother and family last week.

Bittiker, of Ulysses, to carry the mail from Ilartland to Ulysses and Hugoton. The auto is made to- travel on Kansas prairies, through mud or sand, as the occasion may demand.

It will carry eight passengers beside mail and express. We admire Mr. Bittiker's enterprise, push and get there. Now it wi 1 be only a pleasure to go through the sand hills and do business, instead of a long tiresome trip. Hurrah for Bittiker.
