From this standpoint prospects for crops -in- Rutherford county are. the poorest for many years, and this town is located in about the finest cotton section of the county.

Mr. Haywood, who is a skillful operator in the mill here, had stolen from his home a few days ago several dollars in money and some valuable notes. The papers and-part of the money have been recovered, and the sad fact brought to light in the trial is that two small boys, visitors to the house, are guilty of the theft.
