The mother is the former Carolyn Russell. V- A daughter to Mr. and Mrs. How. ard Sugarman, 1406 Terrace Blvd.

The mother's maiden name is Bar. bara Gibbleman. The father is executive director of Hazleton Redevelopment Authority. MRS. GEORGE POPSON Mrs.

George Popson, 53, of Main Highland, Freeland R. 1, died at 1:50 p.m. yesterday in the Hazleton State General Hospital following a short illness. The former Catherine Yurtinuse, she was born in Czechoslovakia, MRS. LEO SALVATERRA Mrs.

Albina Josephine Salvater-ra, who resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Cane, Box 312-R, Tennent Road, Englishtown, N.J., formerly of 114 E. Clay West Hazleton, died Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the State General Hospital where she had been admitted late Tuesday.

Born in Stockton, a daughter of the late John and Barbara (Ma-gagna) Eckert, she had resided in Paul E. Ziegler, 61, of 612 N. Sherman Court, retired Hazleton City Fire Chief, died at St. Joseph Hospital at 7:35 a.m. Thursday.

He had been hospitalized since April a daughter of the late George and MRS. STEPHEN SABOL Mrs. Mary Sabol, 831 Winters West Hazleton, died Wednesday at 11:55 p.m. at the State General Hospital where she had been a patient one month. Born in Drifton, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Rogan-chik) Hencoski, she had resided in West Hazleton most of her life.

The deceased was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Slovak Church and the Third Order of St. Francis of the parish. She was honored in 1967 by the Greater Hazleton Veterans Association for having had six sons serve with the armed forces during World War Two. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen in 1966, and a brother, John Hencoski, who died in 1969.

Surviving are six sons, Stephen Jr. and John, West Hazleton; Mi Stash Arrested In Local Barroom City police arrested a man Identified as John Stash at 10 a.m. yesterday in a Wyoming Street bar, and charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Stash, whose address was not listed, was picked up on a warrant issued by District Justice James Scarcella. He was later released on bail after appearing before the city official, police said.

Joseph Hospital and the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Ziegler, who retired last Oct. 1, served the city as a fireman tor 37 years, 15 of which were spent as fire chief. He joined the fire department in 1932 as a member of the Diamond Fire Co. and had served as chief of that company at one time.

On Jan. 1, 1956 he was appointed fire chief. From May 1, 1955 until his official appointment, he was acting chief during the illness of the late George Brandau. He served under five public safety commissioners during his tenure as head of the fire department. They were James Conahan, Al Sarosky, Thomas Walker, Atty.

I West Hazleton most of her life until locating in Englishtown two years ago. The deceased was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, this city Altar and Rosary Society and Confraternity of Christian Mothers of the parish, and Our Lady of Mercy Church, Englishtown. Her husband, Leo J. Salvaterra, died in 1955. Surviving are four children, Leo, Anna (Kavulics) Yurtinuse.

She resided in Highland most of her life. She was a member of St. John's Nepomuncne Freeland, and the parish Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by her husband, George, and the following children: Mrs. William (Anna) Nodine, Mountaintop; Mary, New York; Mrs.

George (Catherine) Ursta, Freeland; Andrew, New York; Mrs. John (Albina) Breslin, Allen-town; Mrs. Philip (Veronica) Epis-capo, New York, apd Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Bonczek, Mountaintop. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, George and Michael, and sister Ann, all residing in Europe. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. from the McNulty Funeral Home, Freeland, with a requiem high mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. John's Nepomucene Church.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Paul E. Ziegler chael, Linden, N.J.; George, Balti more; Joseph and Peter, West Ha zleton; and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held Satur day at 10 a.m.

He also held membership in the Hazleton Firefighters Local 507, Paid Firemen's Pension Fund, the Volunteer Firemen's Relief Association, Luzerne County Fire Chief's Association, Six-County Firefighters Association, State Firefighters Association and Association advisor of the Hazleton Rescue Squad.
