exciting public auction in federal bankruptcy court yesterday afternoon The high bid offered by Edward Matheny Jr attorney for CSB was $156000 In volved in the purchase were 10 acres of land the office and station building the transmitter building and the concrete base for the tower Matheny said afterward CSB still needs to negotiate with RCA for the transmitter tower and antenna He declined to estimate the cost except to say that it will be substantial CSB is a nonprofit corporation established to develop public television here It intends to operate Channel 19 from the new KCIT location and probably will try for permission from the Federal Communications Commission to run a second noncommercial station on Channel 50 Full color and much stronger transmission is anticipated The auction yesterday with most traditional programs intact and a whole new set of activities especially for returning alumni The annual festivities began last night with traditional judging of fraternity and sorority house decorations followed by an old-time snake dance bonfire and pep rally to cheer on A1 Tigers to what fans hope will be the second UMC victory this season Home-c i committee members with the co-operation of the UMC Alumni Association have made special efforts to show returning alumni the campus and students of receptions tours open houses and dinners home-coming for the students they
