crashed into a light engine at 10 last night The collision occurred near the tower Steuben street West End The firemen of both engines were instantly killed and the engineers were badly injured while scores of passengers although severely shaken up escaped injury The dead are: James Umstott aged twenty fireman on passenger train of Sheraden Pa Owen Cunningham aged twenty-three fireman on light engine of Ingram The injured are: Engineer Dow ney of light engine badly injured of Sheraden Charles Wolf engineer on passenger train of Allegheny Train No 16 composed of three Pullmans one diner and a combination baggage and smoker was east-bound and should have had a clear track When nearing tower Wolf noticed an unusual light on the net work of switches and looking ahead saw the head light of the light engine He threw on the air brakes and reversed his engine but not before both trains came together The combination car was reduced to kindling wood and as its drawhead snapped it was thrown over on the westbound track Both engineers stuck to their posts but the firemen either jumped or were thrown as they were both found on the westbound track badly mangled ven and family are visiting of the famous shoe box mystery Many have been under the Impression for a long time it was on August 9 That is a mistaken Idea It was on a Sunday August 8 1886 that the torso of a man was found in he Farms district in a shoe box The arms and legs were found later in another part of that district but the head never was found Thursday brings the twenty-eighth anniversary of the tornado which swept
