Ridley Briggs, new president of Citizens State Bank of Paris, is one of 28 Texans named to the new Drug Abuse Advisory Council by Gov. Dolph Briscoe. Eunice Corine Mazy Eunice Corine Mazy "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints," Psalms 116:15. One of those saints, Eunice Corine Mazy, 91, went to join His heavenly host Friday, April 17, 1998. Our dear "Mawie," as she was affectionately called by her five great-grandchildren, has at last been rejoined with her beloved husband of 64 years, Merrell "Pawie" Mazy, who died in 1993.

She will be sadly missed by her son, William Lee Mazy, and his wife, Jane, of Run-a-Way Bay; her daughter, Bonnie Keys, and her husband, Frank, of Reno; three grandchildren, Martha Woods of Aledo, Kathryn Mazy of Fort Worth and Carla Fendley of Paris. She is also survived by two nieces, Marie Churchwell of Paris and Mary Nell Prescott of Oklahoma City; two nephews, Morris Pointer of Paris and Elbert Pointer. Also in sorrow is her dear friend as well as sister- in-law Estelle Thompson of Paris, with whom she shared many precious memories. Her many friends and fellow Christians at College Church qf Christ will Mazy as a kind and loving'GodTy' woman. Bright Holland Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m.

Monday at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with Haskell England and 'Nolan Butler officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home: Carl Wayne Webster CLARKSVILLE Carl Wayne Webster, 49, formerly of Avery, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Brentwood Nursing Home, Dallas. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Boxelder Cemetery by Clarksville Funeral Home.

Surviving are his mother, Mable Webster of Avery; a son, Greg Webster of Nebraska; a daughter, Camilla Webster of Dallas; sisters, Wanda White of Dallas, Shirley Lance of Avery, Martha Ruckman of Paris and Rita Riuckenburg of Mandan, N.D.; brothers, James Webster of Fort Smith, Albert Webster of Avery, Benny Webster of Waco and Richard Webster of Clarksville and two grandchildren. Opal Beatrice Smith DEPORT Opal Beatrice Smith, 90, of Paris, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 1 a.m. Monday in the Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be made in Highland Cemetery.

Wood Funeral Homes has charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be employees of the Care One Home Health of Paris. Mrs.

Smith was born Oct. 27, 1907, in Red River County, a daughter of John Albert and Mollie Price Blankenship. She married Homer Smith July 28, 1926, in Deport. He survives her today as does her son-in-law, Bob Start, of Fowler, Kansas, and four grandchildren, Jerry, Thomas, Michael and Margaret Mantzey and a number of great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Erlene Start, on Dec.

10, 1997, and a son, Vernon Mac Smith, July 20 1995. James A. Evans James A. Evans, 66, of Powderly, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m.

Monday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with burial in Long Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Evans was bom Feb.

13, 1932, in Paris, the son of Bert L. and Nada McDonald Evans. He married Pat Jenkins Sept. 10, 1948, in Paris. He was with the Paris Fire Department for 31 years and was then self employed.

He was a long-time member of the Paris Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rick Evans and his wife, Barbara, of Paris, Gary Don Evans and Steven Craig Evans, both of Powderly; one daughter, Cathey Williams and her husband, Jerry, of Powderly; one sister, Mrs. Bobby Hiner of Paris; 12 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Casey Don Evans, and a brother, Donald L. Evans.

Casket bearers will be Steve Dockery, James Reed, Jim H. Ray, Melvin Smith, Don Howell and Graford Cobb. Ada T. Bowman Ada T. Bowman, 90, of Paris, passed away Friday, April 17, 1998, in St.

Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Fry Gibbs Funeral Home with Dr. Sidney R. Young officiating.

Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Fry Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bowman was born Oct. 21, 1907, in High, to William Mannie and Minnie Belle Freeman Thrasher.

She attended school in the Lime Kiln community. Mrs. Bowman married Thomas Grafton Bowman March 3, 1924, in Antlers, Okla. He died Oct. 10, 1987.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Cathryn and J.T. Bryan, Helen and Billy R. Keeling and Joyce and Gerald Jones, all of Paris; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother, Hubert "Bill" Thrasher and four sisters, Edna Patterson, Eva DePue, both of Paris, Era Mae "Bobbye" Roberts of Arlington and Evylan Hardy, also of Paris, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by one daughter, Minnie Pearl Bowman.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Jim Bryan, Joe Bryan and Rod Ashmore and grandsons-in-law Raymond Nixon, Mark Thurmon and Tim Bowman. Mildred Lorene O'Neal HUGO, Okla. Mildred Lorene O'Neal, 82, of Hugo, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Choctaw Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted by Prater-Lampton-Mills Coffey Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.

Mutt Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. O'Neal was born May 26, 1915, in Platter, to Charles Edmond and Viola Funk Johnson.

She married William Arthur O'Neal March 7, 1933, in Hugo. Survivors include her son, William Arthur O'Neal Jr. of Hugo; a daughter, Barbara Hunter of Hugo; a sister, Juanita Bradley of Dallas; a half-sister, Juanell Rye of California; two half-brothers, Wiilard and Russell Johnson, both of California; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Melanie Renee Strudivant CLARKSVILLE Melanie Renee Strudivant, 16, of Avery, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Avery. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.

Monday at Avery Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Rod Jackson, James Brown, Lynn McBryde and Joe Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miss Strudivant was born May 19, 1981, in a daughter of Danny and Lisa Watson Strudivant. She member of the Pinkjhifm Memorial Baptist Church'In DeKalb. She is survived by her parents; one brother, Bryan Strudivant of Avery; grandparents, Doris Strudivant of DeKalb, Wilber and Christine Seggerman of Avery and several aunts, uncies and cousins. Mrs. Cora Lee Borne of Paris died Friday, April 17, 1998, St.
