manager of the Pacific -American Airways Their home was in the apartment building from which she jumped one of the most fashionable in the French concession When Mr Grooch heard of the tragedy he lost consciousness and is now in a serious condition as a result of the shock The cause for the suicide was not explained Mrs Grooch came here in December from Rio De Janeiro where she lived six years while her husband was associated there with Pan-American Airways Grooch himself is one of the leading aviation officials in the far east Authorities learned that Mrs Grooch had been scheduled to sail the budget The main increase in government expenditures for veterans under the order results from liberalization of the eligibility rules for hospital treatment In non-service connected cases so as to provide this treatment in cases of emergency or extensive medical and surgical care The order Increases the rates of pension for war veterans suffering with service-connected disabilities from $90 to $100 a month for total disability and proportionate increases for such veterans suffering with less than total disabilities Burial and funeral allowance for deceased war veterans is increased from $75 to $100 CITY EXTENDS TIME FOR TAX PAYMENTS Penalty Will Not Be Added Until May Mayor Sherman said today that the city will extend the period during which taxes may be paid without penalty until May 1 civil works administration will discharge 1-000000 workers every two weeks to completely demobilize the CWA by May 1 Beginning today the El Paso CWA and relief payroll will be reduced to about $40000 weekly from the $96000 total last week Hours of CWA workers throughout the nation today were ordered reduced from 30 to 24 a week to conserve rapidly diminishing funds Administrator Ilopkins said there is enough CWA money on hand to meet the reduced-hour payroll until Feb 10 CWA activities after Feb 10 will continue if congress appropriates $350000-000 which President Rbosevelt will ask 245000 CWA workers will be reduced to 200000 by next week Texas Relief Administrator Westbrook announced El CWA payroll will be cut about $40000 weekly as a result of drastic reductions in El Paso's quota of accordance with instructions received from state officials CWA officials today reduced the hours of workers employed on projects in the city from 30 to 24 hours a week Workers on county projects will receive only 15 hours a week Paul Henderson relief and CWA administrator ordered city workers placed on a four-day week of six hours a day and country workers placed on a three-day week of five hours
