Rules for Accredited Schools Changes In the rules regulating the accredited normal schools of Indiana are being prepared for publication by Charles A Greathouse state superintendent of public instruction The changes were made by a special committee of the State Board of Education at recent meetings Among the more drastic changes are the following: Preparatory high school work shall be completed before admission to the normal course except where a pupil has two credits to complete In a com missioned high school wliichbe may com plete in an accredited normal school No teacher shall be permitted to teach more than twenty five hours In one week (the former number having been thirty) The school library shall not be used for a recitation room The principles of education school management the prin ciples of teaching and special pedagogics as applied to teaching shall constitute at least two thirds of the course of study for students desiring to qualify as class A teachers United States in an old hulk called La Gironde BEGINS EDITORIAL WORK After a trip of fifty nine landed in New Orleans La 1849 He went to Perry County nessee where all his dreams of derful farm lands were blasted Chomel went to Louisville Ky in Jan uary 1850 and after a few days re moved to New Albany Ind Mr Chomel and Sabina Carrico of Kentucky were married in 1850 Airs parents had gone from Mary land to Kentucky and it is thought that they came from England with Lord Bal timore Mr and Mrs Chomel removed later to Harrison County where Mr Chomel met a famous Catholic priest Mgr Bes sonies The two were lifelong friends Mr Chomel lived later in Martin Coun ty Indiana where he published the Mar tin County Herald Later he published the Washington Herald being assisted in the publication of the paper by the members of his family Mr Chomel was well known and was recognized as a man of unusual intellectual attainments and exemplary life He came to Indianapolis in 1893 at the request of the Rt Rev rancis Silas Chatard bishop of the diocese and a close personal friend who had request ed him to accept the editorship or the Catholic Record Mr Chomel published urni paper unin aooui ten years ne
