SAM STRONG BOSTON (AP) — What apparently will be a long trial for Dr. Benjamin Spock and four codefendants entered its second , week today. Prosecution testimony in the draft evasion conspiracy case has centered .on a meeting last October inside the Department of Justice building in Washington. An FBI agent from Washington was scheduled to testify for the government following the weekend recess. On trial with 65-year-old baby doctor are Yale Chaplain William Sloane Coffin Jr., 43; Michael Ferber, 23, a Harvard graduate student; Mitchell Goodman, 44, a New York writer and teacher; and Marcus Raskin, 33, a Washington research director. > If convicted of charges of conspiring to "aid, abet and counsel" youths to avoid the draft , they could receive maximum sentences of five year prison terms and t $iO,OOOfines., The trial recessed Friday aft_.__ Nancy Ross of McCas- er testimony by John Mel, tfleMa^-^w^dJQfi^^ir^nMdJA^^ ICSBtafl deputy a special guest of the Friday Mu- U.S. attorney general, who said sic Club, when it met May 24 in the home of Mrs. B. C. Hyatt. Mrs. Arthur Wimmell introduced her former pupil who played "Ten Concert Variations" by Mark Nevin and "The Old Song" by Fernandez. Mrs. Helen Hatch Boyd was in charge of the program entitled "Twentieth Century Compositions for Two Pianos." After she had given a delightful sketch of the life of Rachmaninoff, Mrs. "B." C. Hyatt and Mrs. Arthur Strech played a two-piano arrangement of his "Prelude in G minor," The choral group from the club sang another of his compositions, "The Island." The speaker outlined interesting aspects of the life of the modern composer. Abram Chasins, and the Hyatt-Strech duo played "Die Fledermaus Fantasy on Themes by Jobann Strauss" arranged by Chasins. After the club had accepted the slate of new officers by unanimous vote, the retiring president, Mrs, Sam W, Strong, turned the club over to the new president, Mrs. Clarence Geist, in a clever manner. Other officers for the coming year are: 1st vice-president, Mrs, W. A, WU- liams; 2 nd Vice-president, Mrs, Guy Downing; 3rd Vice- president, Mrs, James Me Larry; recording secretary, Mrs, W. E. White; corresponding seer clary, Mrs. Thomas Hays, Jr.; auditor, Mrs, Charles Reynerson; parliamentarian, Mrs. Sam W, Strong; historian, Mrs. Bob Moers; librarian and pianist, Mrs, B, C, Hyatt; Mrs, Strong, on behalf of the entire club, presented Mrs. Spock, Coffin, Goodman and Raskin demanded last Oct. 20 that he accept from .them a briefcase filled with draft cards and facsimilies; "• "I told them I could not and would not accept the briefcase," McDonough testified. McDonough said Raskin told him the draft cards were evidence of a federal law violation and that it was his duty to receive them. '..•'. McDonough said he summoned two FBI agents to take custody of the briefcase. Latest estimates are that it may take the government as long as a month to present its evidence. . Took Year to Find a Ring SEATTLE (AP) - Last January, Mrs. Albert James dropped her wedding and engagement rings in the snow when removing a ski glove at Snoqualmie Pass. Forest Ranger Ken White told her he would chart the spot look for the rings when the j ani es had them back Saturday. White's son.
