2 ranked Lincoln Northeast Friday night at Seacrest Field ended with the Rockets supplying enough electricity to light the stadium using halfback Steve Eliker as the plug, as Lincoln High fell 33-7 before 4,500 fans. The Links dealt the heavily- favored Rockets an early blow by scoring their first touchdown of the season after holding Northeast to zero yards on its first possession. Coach Jerry Links ground out 54 yards in clockworic fashion against the strong Northeast defense and scored in eight plays. Link fans marked the time of 7:16 left in the first quarter when quarterback Dean Carstens scored from three yards out after halfback Uduak Udofia picked up 32 yards on carries of 18, six and eight yards. 245 Yards From that point on however, Northeast did all the scoring as Eliker accounted for 245 yards total offense and three touchdowns after the initial sting.

The Links give in immediately as they held Northeast to minus three yards after its next possession. The Rocket defense held its ground and after a John Beaver punt to the Northeast 18 yard hne, Eliker leaped over two players at the line of scrimmage and raced 82 yards for the first Northeast touchdown. Eliker kept coming back for repeat performances, scoring the next touchdown on a two yard run, and then another, this one on a 53 yard bomb from quarterback Doug Berka. Like Eliker, Berka also had an outstanding game as he completed six of 10 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 31 yards and a touchdown of his own from one yard out. Statistically, the game was closer than the 33-7 score would indicate despite 182 yards rushing on 10 carries bringing a smile to the face of BaU.

Knights Tip Hastings By TOM VINT Hastings From the opening kickoff, Lincoln Southeast made it apparent the Knights were out to even the get even. A game-opening 68-yard touchdown drive sparked Southeast to a 12-0 win over Hastings and an even record at 22 with back-to-back wins. As in last Ralston win.

Southeast took it to its opponent on the ground. Coach Frank Solich had visions of using an improved passing game against the Tigers but the need never arose. Instead, the Knights piled up 223 yards rushing, including 56 on the opening drive capped by a six-yard Eddie Davis to Ron Rech pass play. Rech made a diving catch with 4:56 left in the first quarter and Southeast was ahead to stay. first possession resulted in tragedy.

After moving the ball 21 yands with a power running game of its own, quarterback Ed Minnick was cracked by Southeast linebacker Dick and coughed up the ball Knight teammate Ross Loudenback fell on the ball at the Easfings 48. This time the Knights used six running plays and an assortment "of Davis passes to put the ball on the one. On the second play of the second quarter, Greg Prochaska bulled over for the second Knight TD. Apparently extra points in the game plan for Southeast, however. The first attempt was foiled when the center snap sailed over the head of kicker Howard Misle.

The second try failed when pass attempt was knocked down. Still, the Knights had a 12-0 lead and a hard-hitting defense to back it up. Southeast forced two pass interceptions and two lost fumbles on Hastings. The Tigers had only one healthy scoring threat, that being in the second quarter. Hastings took the ball on their own 35 following a Southeast punt in the second period.

Behind the running of Monson, Rick Sadd and Chip Findley, the Tigers pushed to the Southeast 15. There, on fourth and four, Sadd was stacked up by the middle of the Southeast line, led by CoDtiniied on page 12. Adkisson hit his brother, senior split end Ken Adkisson, with a 14-yard touchdown pass to cap the drive. Steve Adkisson then intercepted a pass with 28 seconds remaining before halftime to give the Wildcats a golden opportunity. Fuller Aids Pius Win, 39-0 By KEN HAMBLETON Star Sports Writer Senior quarterback Pat Fuller connected on five passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns to lead the top-rated class Lincoln Pius Thunderbolts to a 39-0 win over Minden Friday night in the Pius home opener. After a scoreless first quarter when neither team could effectively move the bU, Fuller took to the air to try and crack the Minden defense. The stretegy worked as on second possession in the second quarter Fuller hit flanker Steve Rohren on a 27-yard scoring pass to give the a 6-0 lead. Tom Doggett kicked the extra point. The Whippets only gained 13 rushing yards on 14 carries in the first half and gained only three first downs. Both quarteracks, starter Oiuck Schnoor and his backup Bentley Benson, were injured in the first half and out for the game.

Doggett, a 170-pound senior, opened the second half for the leading a Pius drive in four plays with runs of 12,42 and 8 yards moving to the Minden three, where he crashed over the middle to boost the to a 204 lead.
