Indiana players probably would prefer to abstain from a better example. In addition to efforts, Davis added 63-yards rushing and scored on a tackle- busting 20-yard scamper, while Anthony scored twice and picked up 50 yards. Terry Jones, Quarterback "They weren't keying on Snyder. They just totally stopped our inside game and forced us into doing what we didn't want to." On the Nebraska front line Nebraska's front line is one of the toughest I've ever faced, and I've faced some good ones, Their pass rush was so fast that I'd set up and they would already be there. They come in awful hard. That nose (John Lee) is tough, real tough." On the game's opening play when long pass to split end Trent Smock fell short Into the hands of Dave Butterfield "I threw it up a little too high and the wind just held it up.

I'm not blaming the wind because I just should have thrown it harder. You've got to credit the defensive back with a good play after he was beaten." Trent Smock, Split end, punter "Terry threw it (the first pass) into the wind and it got held up, but it was still just low enough that I couldn't come over the top of the defensive back to get the ball. I thought that was the turning point in the passing game. It wasn't a predetermined play. The situation just dictated it." On the quick kick attempt that was blocked by Wonder Monds and resulted in the Huskers' second touchdown "We just didn't cut Wonder down and he got to me.

I was told if I thought I couldn't get the kick off, I should run with it, but I thought I had it. I'm just going to forget this one." On the Nebraska secondary "They've got a good secondary. They mix it up well and don't make many mistakes." Jim Shuck, Center "I would rate John Lee as one of the best noseguards I've ever faced. He's extremely quick and moves lateral real well. But the whole scheme of the defense is what makes the defense good.

There's a lot of good individuals, but the way they worked together makes it all work. On the pass Lee knocked down from his middle guard post "On that particular play he was assigned to stay in position to stop our draw. He just played it soft and made a good play." Harold Waterhouse, Defensive back "Tony Davis hit the hardest of any backs I tackled. On the sideline, I saw him lower his head and not try to sidestep me, so I just did the same. He wasn't going to give ground and neither was it's our job.

When he got up, we had some words. He said good hit, and I said great run. It was. On Bobby Thomas' touchdown catch "There was no way I thought he could get up that high to catch the ball. It was a good pass and a hell of a catch.

I don't know how he caught it because I had a hand on the ball." On Nebraska's success with the down and out passes "We had a defense figured out for that, but everytime they went for it, we were in the wrong coverage." NU Dominates Second Half Continued From Page ID run after block of lU punter Trent boot, which came after Jones had pitched the ball laterally to Smock. thought it was a quick Monds said of his second block as a Husker (he got one two years ago). was just as surprised as everybody Luck changed the play at the line of scrimmage before run. moved a tackle over our left guard on a play which was supposed to be a pitch to the left on which our guard was to Luck said. way they lined up that tackle would have nailed us before we had a chance to get Thomas made a spectacular catch for a 12-yard TD, but Luck decided against an audible on that one.

Luck directed an 85-yard scoring drive at the outset of the third quarter. got the touchdown on a one-yard run through left guard to make it 31-0. Then Vince Ferragamo came in to lead the final two touchdown marches.

The first one featured a pair of 11-yard passes to wingback Tom Heiser and tight end Rick Panneton and it was scored by Anthony on an eight-yard option around left end. The second one, which came after Kurt interception also was scored by Anthony on an identical play that covered 16 yards. The 44-yard drive also included a 12-yard Ferragamo-to-Heiser aerial. Eveland did all the kicking on field goals, extra points and kickoffs. In addition to his field goal, he also had a 6-for-6 afternoon on PATs and booted three kickoffs out of the end zone.

Mike Coyle, whose field goal kicking had won the last two NU games, missed the game because of a freak injury suffered in workout. He was punting during a specialty team drill and he accidentally kicked a helmet that someone had left on the field. The ankle swelled up and he was declared out after testing the ankle in the pre-game warmup. was a scary thing to enter the game without the kicker who has made the difference the last two times out, but Eveland came Osborne said. a reassuring feeling to have two kickers that can get the job done.

But trainer Paul Schneider said it was just the usual assortment of bumps and bruises and that everyone should be ready for next week. Bobby Thomas, SpUt End "Coach Osborne called my touchdown pass from the sideline. I took three steps and cut to the outside and jumped as high as I could.

When Terry (quarterback Luck) threw the ball, I didn't know if I could get up that high to catch it. But we work on that play in practice." Wonder Monds, Monster Back "I thought Indiana's quick kick (which he blocked) was going to be a screen pass. My responsibility was in the flat. I was just moving up to make the tackle I didn't know what he (split end Terry Smock) was doing it caught me by surprise." Tony Davis, Fullback ''I wanted to tell the Indiana defensive back that he nnade a nice hit when he knocked me out of bounds on one play. But I guess the Ijidiana coaches and players thought I was talking to him about a late hit and everyone got excited. I don't know what all the excitement was about it was a great hit." it Vince Ferragamo, Quarterback "I looked forward to playing for Nebraska for a long time. I sure glad it finally happened.

I hadn't been in a game, other than the intrasquad spring game last year since playing for Cal against Stanford in the final game of the 73 season. I was a little overanxious, which caused me to make some mistakes. But overall I was fairly pleased." Bob Martin, Defensive End "We knew the offense would comelhrough. I felt more at home on the right side (he played left end in the opener because of the ineligibility of Ray Phillips). Indiana was supposed to be a better offensive team than LSU, which made the shutout all the nicer." Bob Ungenfelter, Offensive Tackle "All week people were saying we (offensive line) weren't any good.

We felt like we had to go out and prove ourselves. We wanted to go out and blow some people off inhi ioM I (Davis) and hard. Now we just want to keep right on improving every week."
