1-Vote Margin FALLS CITY (AP) Mayor Baker was returned to office by a single vote following the official canvass and counting of absentee ballots The unofficial count last Tuesday gave Arm-fa ruster a 939 to 938 vote lead But Monday Baker got 18 of the 34 absentee ballots to 16 for Armbruster Sioux Rancher Earl Foster Dies Here At 78 Earl Foster 78 a retired Sioux County rancher died unexpectedly at his home 1407 Missouri Monday evening The Alliance Emergency Unit was called to the home shortly after 7 pm but Mr Foster was dead when the unit arrived His death apparently followed a heart attack He was born July 13 1889 in Kent Kan and moved to Alliance in 1954 following his retirement from his Sioux County ranch He wasa member of the Undenominational Church Survivors include his widow Mabel of the home three sons George of Dwyer Wyo William of Greeley Colo and Howard of Scottsbluff four daughters Adeline Foster and Ida Lyman both of Scottsbluff Mrs Clarence (Delma) Wilkie of Marsland and Mrs John (Hester) Lyons of Kansas City Kan two stepdaughters Mrs Bob (Lola) Romey of Scottsbluff and Mrs Harold (Lavern) Bower of Albuquerque a sister Mabel Neil of Prescott Ariz and 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren Funeral services are pending with the Bates-Landa Funeral Home in charge of Blaine Wilson Heads FFA's Chapter Here Blaine Wilson is the newly elected president of the Alliance Chapter of Future Farmers of America The 1968-69 officers were revealed Monday night at the annual banquet for members and parents held at the multi-purpose room in the North High Building Miss Brenda Brennan was revealed as the FFA Sweetheart and her attendants are Patty Vogel and Barbara Lambert Other new officers are Max Dentler vice-president Gary Dickinson secretary Robert Lehl treasurer Don Neafus reporter and David Schwaderer sentinel Gary Trenkle is the retiring president Paul Koester was the speaker for the evening on the topic of The national theme this year for FFA is Youth in and this was carried out as the theme of the banquet The chapter presented two honorary chapter farmer awards to Carl Peterson and Forrest Trenkle Ed Darveau of the Soil Water Conservation in County Court today and plead-ed guilty to procuring alcoholic liquor (beer) for a minor Gary Alliance Women's Brother Drake 73 Dies News has been received here of the death Sunday of Everett Elmer Drake 73 brother of Mrs Mildred McCawley and Mrs Ogal Ziemkowski both of Alliance Mr Drake died in a Scotts-bluff Hospital He was born June 6 1894 at Broken Bow and served in the Armed Forces during World War I He married the former Leona Rosentrader on 21 1921 in Broken Bow They had lived in Scottsbluff since 1961 In addition to his widow and sisters he is survived by three sons a daughter a death in a Scottsbluff Hospital of Adam Nuss 73 father of Mrs Pete (Betty) Schnell and Mrs Alex (Dorothy) Fritzler both of Alliance Mr Nuss was born January 30 1895 at Sareeza Russia and came to the United States with his parents in 1910 He lived in Chicago until the death of his father in 1921 and in the same year he came to Gering In 1925 he moved to Lincoln where he married the former Milly
