Claude Rogers Mrs Gertrude Brice and Mr and Mrs Harold Steggs and sons 3 Nebraskans Die In Auto Mishap By The Associated Press Three Nebraskans died in traffic accidents late Tuesday night two of them in a car-pickup crash near Fullerton' The deaths raised the highway fatality count for the year to 257 or 20 more than on Sept 1 a year ago Nance County Sheriff Richard Shepoka said the drivers of both the car and pickup died in a head-on crash about two miles north of Fullerton on Route 14 Paul Wetovick 44 Fullerton driver of the pickup and Barry Biede 21 Cedar Rapids driver of the car were killed the office said After the crash Shepoka said the car caught fire Susan Linnemeyer 24 of Omaha was killed when police said she fell from the hood of a car on which she was riding with Kathy Bergman in Omaha Miss Bergman escaped serious injury Police said the victim suffered head injuries when the car driven by Corrine Kafka struck a bump CHADRON (T-HNS) Grace Episcopal Church was the Ore was matrort-of-honor Bridesmaids were Mrs Janice Campbell of La Jolla Calif cousin of the bride and Chris Stevens of Omaha and Vickie Bartlett sister of the groom Michelle Hikida of Denver was flower girl and was dressed identical to the bridesmaids and carried a basket of petals The attendants gowns were of pastel blue and featured an empire waist Each carried a colonial nosegay of General Hospital in Scottsbluff after hip surgery and will be returning to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Alliance soon City Grand Island and many other communities Classes for the Child Development Associate or CDA are given through the Head Start Supplementary Training program at Chadron State College This program provides college-level training for all Head Start personnel in Nebraska The CDA represents a competency-based approach to training and students are assessed on their actual performance in the preschool classroom According to the program director Dale Chlouber there are currently sixty trainees enrolled in the CDA program at Chadron State College These students come from throughout the state The training for the CDA is offered through workshops held at various sites fn the state followed by field supervision at the Head Start centers The instructor-field supervisor for the CDA at Chadron State is Kim Townley CDA training is open to others as well as Head Start employes The training can lead to a certificate an associate of arts degree in early childhood education or a four year degree in early childhood education Early childhood classes offered on campus at Chadron State College are taught by CSC instructor Betty CHADRON (T-HNS) Chadron State College primarily serves the western half of Nebraska but at least one CSC program reaches students equally in every part of the state The Child Development Associate offered by CSC gives training to Head Start personnel in all parts of Nebraska including Omaha Lincoln South Sioux 150 Veterans Expected Attend Chadron State CHADRON (T-HNS) About 150 veterans are expected to be among the student body this fall at Chadron State College the estimate given by Don Phipps one of the counselors at CSC for the fall semester There are two persons specializing in giving assistance to enrolling veterans In addition to Don Phipps a Business and Math major from Chadron there is Steve Card a Business major also from Chadron Their understanding of problems and concerns should be keen both are veterans themselves having served in the Army Persons desiring information or assistance concerning Affairs should contact Don or Steve in Room 158 of the Administration Building Swine Flu Alert To Be Sent With SS Checks SCOTTSBLUFF (T-HNS) Dean Scoggin manager of the Scottsbluff Social Security Office announced Wednesday that a swine flu message will be contained in the September Social Security check envelopes The message will be to alert Panhandle residents of the possibilities of a swine flu epidemic and of the vaccine that will be available The vaccine is not available yet but should be about the first of October Plans for distribution have not yet been completed Further announcements from local health agencies on how the vaccine will be made available will be made Court Okays Close Of Omaha School OMAHA Neb (AP)-The Omaha School request to close Pershing Elementary School in East Orqaha won approval Monday of District Judge Albert Schatz The school which has had dwindling enrollment the last few years was scheduled to house only two grades this fall in the integration plan The
