TU Moon The Miss Stark County contest will be held Wednesday evening, Aug. 14. A parade with horses, ponies, antique and modern cars, floats and bands will be hold Thursday morning, Aug. 15. This parade will'take the place of the former Kids Day parade. The kids may get into the bigger parade if they care to. A court for horseshoe pitching has been installed and a contest will be held on Old Settlers Day. The courts are in Civic Club Park. He entered the Army during World Wax* II and rose from private to major. He retires with the rank of major. Bergin has been ROTC instructor at a college in Huntington, W. Va., the past few years. Bergin will teach American history and be boys guidance counselor at Calvert County High School at Prince Frederick, Md., the coming year. The Bergin family expects to visit in Toulon this summer. Hospitalized Floid Brian, prominent Toulon attorney, is a patient in Kewanee Public Hospital. He was taken there by ambulance Tuesday after injuring his hip in a fall. X- rays showed no breaks, but hip was badly bruised. John Edward, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Forctrom, returned home Sunday after being a patient in Peoria Proctor Hospital. Kathy Roach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Roach, entered Peoria St. Francis Hospital last Sunday for observation and treatment. Ignorance Scored NEW YORK (AP) - Church members often are poorly informed about Christian teaching, the Rev. James M. Denni- ings, Episcopal rector of the Church of St. Philip and St. James, New Hyde Park, N.Y., told a meeting of lay leaders. He said: "Over the years we have seen the church allowing the educative process of her children to end with Sunday school, thereby ending up with a considerable mass of otherwise intelligent adults with the religious I.Q. of 12 year olds." Postnuptial Shower Held At New Windsor NEW WINDSOR-Mrs. Gordon Whitaker of Bloomington, Ind., the former Patricia Klodt of New Windsor, was honored at a postnuptial shower July 24, attended by 60 relatives and friends of the honoree. The event was held at the parlors of Calvary Lutheran Church which were decorated in the bride's chosen colors, yellow and green. An open parasol in these colors was suspended over the gift table. Mrs. Curtis Young announced the following program: reading, Mrs. Ray Swanson; clarinet solo, Elin Thomas with Jim Pinkerton accompanist; readings by Mrs. Emil Johnson and Mrs. Martha Klodt and a group of piano solos by Miss Marie Rosene. Miss Lois Patterson of Rockford and Mrs. Rodney Garrett assisted the bride in displaying her many gifts. Serving honors at the table centered with a yellow bouquet guarded by green and yellow tapers, were accorded Mrs. Elmer Patterson of Rockford, sister ot Mrs. Whitaker and Mrs. Klodt, her mother. The management of Meramec Caverns in Stanton, Mo., has hired dozens of college boys to drive the bats from the cave and then put up a screen to keep them out. They're calling it "Operation Corn-bat."
