Saturfey, Nvmkr THE I RANDOM First Presbyterian Church to have 44th anniversary Church is an instrument of God's love for world majoring in philosophy, history and English. He completed the three-year theological course at Emmanuel College. University of Queensland, with the prize for Dux of the year. During his years as minister within the Presbyterian Church of he has served two city and three rural parishes in the eastern States. During the Second Woiid War he served as chaplain in the Royal Australian Airforce from.

1941-1943. His present parish of St. is in a sheep, cattle and cereal growing country within the Presbytery bounds of Wimmera. Mr. North has been honored by being elected for three a rate terms as Moderator of the Presbytery of New South Wales, Victoria, and presently holds the office of Clerk of Presbytery for Wimmera.

Mr. North is well acquainted with the misiion work of his church, having served as a member of the state executive of the Aboriginal and Overseas Mission Committee. He has concerned himself with home mission work, immigration and chaplaincy committees. He is a member of the state executive of the British and Foreign Bible Society, and is very active as hospital chaplain at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. Mr.

North is married and has the food into wtech it is poured. shaker and it is useless, fry to turn everything into salt and the result is inedible. The church, the people, of Jesus, is to be the salt that is poured into human society to give it flavor, io bring out the zest in community life. "The church is not aj) end in itself; it is an instrument of God's love for the world. The church is the world to be light, salt for the world's own sake." So says Dr.

Dolan. Christian people are discovering that the Living God is prodding them on to search out how ana where 'they can be his 'hands and feet." This is the dynamic that pushes them to risk new styles of Christian living and church life. their parents to the jail, or the home, or the coffee house! This is one example among many of the new styles of Christian living and church life that' deeply concerned people are discovering, as they try to live out the meaning of God's caring for in our society. Discovering a "new style" is not a popular activity witness the small membership of Christ Church Presbyterian! We prefer to write.off the church as inef.eetive, or to stay in its familiar patterns which are so much more comfortable, less demanding. Dr. Rex Dolan in his book THE BIG CHANGE reminds us that the church is the "body of Christ," his hands and feet in society. As we study the scriptures we find ourselves confronted by the Christ who is SERVANT to the WORLD, who is among us as one who serves, who has given his life as a ransom for many.

When Jesus is the Man for others, can his' church be primarily concerned for its own welfare, its own program, or even its own salvation? The chi.rch exists to Gerve God's world, asChrist was sent as servant. Consider Jesus' statement: "You are the salt of the earth." The purpose of salt is to release the full flavor of Rev.
