WI-GCI0434183-06 Obituaries OSHKOSH Steven D. McBrair, age 68, passed away on June 20, 2020. He was born to Audrey J. (nee Witzke) and Da- vid B.McBrair on July 2, 1951 in MilwaukeeWis- consin. Steve had a big heart and spent his time vol- unteering and helping at the Senior Center.

He also enjoyed playing as well as calling numbers for Bingo. He worked as a truck driver for Oshkosh Gosh for over 30 years. He is survived by his mother, Audrey McBrair; siblings, John (Carol)McBrair, RonMcBrair, Larry (Carol) McBrair, Lynn (Darrell Jones) McBrair, Julie (Ron Tim (Cheryl)McBrair, and Alan (Kathy) McBrair; he was uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, and great-uncle to 25 great-nieces and great-nephews; special aunt, Ethel Stueck, and many cousins. Preceding Steve in death are his father, David B. McBrair, and his grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held at Wy- ldewood Baptist Church, 3030 Witzel Os- hkosh WI on Saturday, June 27, 2020. Visitation will begin at and last until the time of services at Steven McBrair WINNECONNE Sharon Kay Metz passed away peacefully on June 19, 2020, in Oshkosh. Born in Winneconne on September 13, 1934, Sharon was the only child of Henry and Elfrieda Wiesner. She grew up a tomboy fishing, tending traps, exploring the woods and skiing themarshes on the Wiesner farm and fishing resort. Sharon attend- ed a one-room schoolhouse at which she and her first cousins often accounted for half the student body.

In 1952 she graduated from Winneconne High School. also the year Sharonmarried ThomasMetz, starting a remarkable partnership that would last nearly 68 years. In addition to Tom, she is survived by sons Michael (Janet Benson) of Sun City West, AZ, Mark (Diana) of Wauwatosa, Mitchell (Rosemary) of Oconomowoc, and Matthew (Aleathea Johnson) of Minneapolis. She is also survived by adoring grandchildren Casey (Tommasina Miller), Logan, Trevor, Emma, Fletcher, Ellie, Henry, Charlie and Alaina, as well as special friends Hannah Goreta, Oliver and Ava Schlegel and Sarah Binder. After Tom left the army, the two lived in Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay, raising their four boys.

It was in Green Bay that Sharon began a career in community activism, working as a VISTA volunteer and program assis- tant for four years. Her concerns with helping the underprivileged led her to run in 1974 as a Democratic candidate for theWisconsin State Assembly against a long-term Republican incumbent. She won, and was re-elected five more times. During her 12 years in the Assembly, Sharon championed the rights of children, the environment, and especially Native Americans. She became only the second woman to serve on the powerful Joint Finance Committee.

In 1986, Sharon was the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, running with the incumbent governor Tony Earl. Although that election end the right way, Sharon brushed herself off and found other ways to continue the fight for social justice. She and Tom moved to Milwaukee, where Sharon served as Executive Director of Lutheran Human Rights As- sociation of America for the next four years. In 1990, Sharon founded Honor Our Neighbors Origins and Rights (HONOR), a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting American Indian rights and educating the public on issues of importance to the Native community. Under her guidance as Executive Director, Sharon was able to organize a national Native-rights advocacy network, bringing in strong non-Indian support to standwith the tribes onmany issues, including treaty rights, team mascots, religious freedom, gaming, and the protection of burial and sacred sites.

Tom worked side-by-side with her on HONOR matters, developing his own specialty and recognition as a seller of authentic Native-themed literature. In 1995, Sharon and Tom moved back to the Winneconne farm of her birth and childhood, where she began to keep and ride horses at the age of 61. The couple continued to work with HONOR and publish the HONOR Digest for many more years. Sharon only around 2006, after more than 35 years of social activism. In 2015, she and Tommoved to an assisted living apartment in Oshkosh, where Sharon enjoyed frequent visits with family and friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service for Sharon, and in the fall her ashes will be scattered near aMeskwaki archaeological site on the family farm. A public visitation will be held atMueller Funeral Home 904 E.Main St.Winneconne onWednesday, July 1, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Due to COVID, facemasks and social distancing will apply. Sharon Kay Metz OSHKOSH, WI Eliz- abeth Ann Florio (nee Murphy) of Oshkosh, passed away on June 17, 2020. She was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on December 21, 1928. She and her husband Philip Florio Jr. of the same home town moved to Wisconsin in 1995 to be closer to their youngest daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Angelo) Porcelli of Chicago. The had five children, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Florio retired from the US Air Force as Lt. Colo- nel in 1974. The other children include Judith C. (Robert) Lindsey of Chicago, Jane (William)Davis of Walpole, N.H., Tony (Jayne) Florio of Marble Hill, MO and Mark Florio of Murphysboro, IL; Mr.

Florio has one sister surviving, PatWadley of St. Charles, MO. Mrs. Florio was 91. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 4:00 pm in the Fiss Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S.Westhaven Dr.

A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of service. Elizabeth Ann Florio Mary Zmolek passed away after bat- tling ALS with cour- age and determination. When she received her diagnosis, she accepted it bravely. We had very close family and friends. We are even tighter now.

Mary left everyone she touched a better person, closer, stronger. It faith that formedwho she was and how she lived. She was a life long devout Catholic, practicing steadfast moral conviction honorably. Mary was principled, a loving wife, and affection- ate mother. On she married the love of her life, Joe.Mary was very proud of her children, Katie and Bridget, and their accomplishments.

Mary graduated from theMarquette University College of Nursing in 1980. She retired fromwork- ing at the Mercy Medical Center recovery room upon receiving her ALS diagnosis. Because of her affection for all humanity, she treated everyone with respect. Her sharp wit made her a favorite with patients and co-workers, who became more like friends and family. Mary was born to the late Dr.

John and Marilyn McKenzie in Rice Lake, WI. Survivors include her husband Joe; her daughters, Katie (Patrick) Blaney, Bridget (Rob) Patek; brothers, Matt Pat (Anne)McKenzie; sisters, Kathleen McKenzie, Linda (Marc) Bram- mer, Amy (Randall) Swanson, Terri McKenzie, Sheila (Bill) Acton; grandchildren Clare and PJ Blaney, Grace Patek and a grandson on the way. Mary is further survived by in-laws, Terry (Roger) Jim (Julie) Zmolek; many loving nieces, nephews and their families. We give our heartfelt appreciation to the won- derful loving family, friends, and caregivers who helpedMary in her final phase.Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held for Mary.
