Above Knox's seal is a smaller one of Coe CoMege. Seals of Midwest Conference colleges are illustrated in the stained glass which was colored by metallic oxides fused into the brittle glass. Some of the pigments were also burned into the glass. Who owns the Galesburg Holi day Inn? There is 10 of them, all local men with different vocations but the same avoeatior of launching a successful business venture which would benefit the community, the list of vocations include, doctor, lawyer, implement dealer, construction worker, tire dealer, farmer, auctioneer, teacher and insurance executive. Seven of them are from Monmouth and three feside in Galesburg. The inn wasn 't built here by accident. It took a lot of careful study before a final decision was made. A team ol Holiday Inn personnel from the Memphis, Tenn. headquarters made a feasibility study last year to insure the investment. The study revealed that the community, especially industrial concerns, was anxious to have a "first class accomodation for vis iting guests," according to a report made. This was a starter but there were still other consid erations which eventually Jed to ground breaking ceremonies north of Galesburg adjacent to U. S 150. Two Other Factors According to stockholders there were two other factors. One was the Galesburg Municipal Airport National Group Is Organized Holiday Inns' independent operators have felt the need of forming an association to co-ordinate and make uniform their activities. Such a group is the National Association of Holiday Jnns. The group meets annually in September and various licensees, franchise holders, and Innkeepers discuss their business and agree upon a uniform procedure. Because it operates more ..han 70 inns, the parent company, Hol iday Inns of America, Inc., is a member of the association and takes a part in it just like the others. The stockholders elected three directors and have appointed ari innkeeper to supervise over the management of the facility. The inn, miniature golf course and driving range, all located near each other, are owned by the 10 stockholders. How has the Holiday Inn been accepted? According to innkeeper Bill Holliday many local business, civic and religious leaders in the community are pleased with the facility.
