Tillotson and wife. The RECORD extends congratulation to the happy couple. Mayor Pitcher Talks To THE city council have been accused several times of ordering the B. M. to remove their stock yards, out of town.

Now this is false. Here is the xeact copy of the city records: Motion by Dr. taker that the clerk serve notice on B. M. Company by Z.

T. Kemper, their Agent, to remove or abate stock yard nuisance within one week. This motion was served and at the time the yard was nearly rubber boot top deep with filth, and I for one will vote to do the same thing again. R. E.

PITCHER, Mayor. The KECORD don't think the city council done any more than their duty, in notifying the B. M. to clean ug their yard. It has been the costume to feed hogs.

in the stock yard for weeks at a time. In the spring of the year. it naturally caused a stench, that was very harmful to the health of the people living near the yards. As we understand it the B. M.

Company did not build yards for private people to feed hogs as they gathered them in for shipment. You see dear reader that, Mayor Pitcher or any of the city council have not ordered the yards removed but simply requested the company to keep the yards in proper condition. This request don't seem to us to justify the B. M. Company in placing pad locks on the yards Elected Officers On last Saturday the Van Meter Corps elected officers for the ensuing year.

The following were elected: Mrs. Althea Stevens, President; Mrs. Mattie Swartz, sen. vice; Mrs. Margaret Parish, junior vice; Mrs.

Caswell, treasurer; Mrs. E. Smith, chaplain: Mrs. Turkington, conductor; Mrs. Zerbe, guard, On and after the second meeting in January, the regular meetings of the Corps will be held on the first and third Fridays: of each montb, instead of on Saturdays as heretofore.
