He was lovingly cared for by his wife of 69 years, Gail Ann Schneider. Bob was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Ernest and Esther Schneider. His strong values of education and service to others were the guiding force in his life, and he worked to make this world a better place through living those values. He graduated from UW Eau Claire with a teaching degree and taught English for several years before finding his work mentoring youth in physical develop- ment as a General Secretary of the YMCA in Red Wing, Minnesota.

He moved on to teach physical education and coach in the Wauwatosa School System for 25 years. As a member of the Wiscon- sin Association of Physical Education, Health and Dance, he put his English degree to work editing the WAPHRD newsletter. Retirement would lead Bob and Gail back to their roots in Eau Claire where he guided youth in Kiwanis Key Club, Circle Eau Claire Country Junior Golf, and the Flying Eagles Ski Club. Bob also volunteered in his com- munity with the Paul Bunyan Camp, Kiwanis, the Randal Park Neighborhood Associ- ation, the Chippewa River State Bike Trail, Lake Street United Methodist Church, and UW Eau Claire Alumni Senior America Day (always a loyal Bob had a zest for life.

Some of his signature de- lights: dancing the jitterbug to any kind of music; playing camp songs or twelve-bar blues on the harmonica; walk- ing the links of a golf course (he even sank a skiing a mountain slope; eating late-night bowls of cereal with bananas; sneaking sweets, especially cinnamon rolls and ice cream; training his dogs to do tricks like sneeze and play dead; wearing hand-knit sweaters and Stormy Kromer hats; playing Bridge with Gail and Spades with the grandkids; seeking a deeper spirituality through study and discussion; hearing and telling jokes, especially if they were slightly blue; sailing on Lake Altoona; and fishing for the elusive muskie. He and Gail loved road trips in their van, eventually traveling to the capitals of every state including Alaska. They flew all over the world, Europe, the Canary Islands, and China, as chaperones for the UW Eau Claire Jazz Band. Keezer, age 80, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI. Ron was born on June 4, 1940, in Eau Claire, to Lorraine Brist and Norman Hall, and raised in Chippewa Falls, WI by his mother and stepfather Wil- lard Keezer. After studies at Winona State University, MN; the Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA; and the Boston Conservatory, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. After extensive study in composition at the University of Wisconsin Madison, Ron completed his Master of Science in Teaching degree on a graduate assis- tantship at UWEC.

In 1965 Ron married Mary A. Graham, a graduate of UWEC with a de- gree in music and a profes- sional French horn player. Sadly, Mary passed away on March 31, 2020. Ron Keezer held the title of Associate Professor Emeritus of Music from UWEC. He taught percussion, and direct- ed the percussion ensemble, marimba ensemble and Jazz Ensemble II at UWEC from 1969 until his retirement in 2001.

In 1997 Ron formed Really Good Music, LLC, a publishing house that features composers of renown as well as younger compos- ers who have shown great talent. Ron was also a skilled composer himself, with publications through Kendor and Really Good Music, and released an instructional video on Drum through the University of Wisconsin Press. He was a highly-sought-after conduc- tor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the Midwest, and an author of a wide variety of articles for various music periodicals. Ron made it his mission to pass on his musical knowledge and hu- manity to his students, many who have gone on to teach or perform professionally in jazz, classical and Broadway. Ron was a faculty member of the Shell Lake Arts Center from 1973-2007.

This was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of his career. Shell Lake, WI became his summer home for the 35 years of his tenure at the Arts Center. The people of Shell Lake and his Arts Center colleagues are a part of his extended family. Besides his musical focus, Ron was an avid reader and historian specializing in WW2, a topic of great interest to him as his stepdad Willard Keezer was a veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He also loved watching comedies and drama miniseries.

Ron had a wonderful and offbeat sense of humor which could break the ice in any social situation. In his later years, Ron had an extensive email list to whom he sent his daily which always began with a weather update, a history lesson (sometimes serious, sometimes absurd), then his unique brand of stream-of-consciousness jokes and shared cartoons. Ron is survived by his son Geoffrey Keezer; his daugh- ter-in-law Gillian Margot; grandchildren Julianne, James, Cameron and Malcolm; siblings Philip Keezer, Deanna Hall and Keith Reaves. Memorials in Ronald name can be made to the Shell Lake Arts Center, P.O. Box 315, Shell Lake, WI 54871; and the Jack and Mar- garet Jazz Advance- ment Fund at the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, Box 4004, Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004.

A joint visitation and me- morial for Ron and Mary will be held at a future date, when it is safe to gather at the level that will likely be required to honor the couple in an appro- priate manner.
