Probably not unless you are one of the favored mortals to own the rather high price required when the season and a short one comes around each year To be sure shad roe Is not a high priced luxury provided the provider is cateriifg to a large family The point is that it is a luxury for a small family Shad roe sells for $1 each shad roe The fish may weigh four pounds or he may weigh eight all the same price whatever he does weighbecause shad 4s the one fish that sells by the fish and is not priced according to the pound The sea son is now on and it will last until about the middle of June Shad is to be baked planked or broiled It is good to eat Prob ably most people know it best as a high priced delicacy served in the hotels and caXes It may be prepared as well at home always provided one has the $1 to pay The secret of the short season for shad is that this fish is one species of the finny tribe that refuses to be refrigerated It is no manner of use" freezing him up to unfreeze and sell next winter or some time In the not always determinable fu ture Shad must be eaten fresh or not eaten at all That is the reason shad is a delicacy And now you housewives who poke dainty fingers into the flsh temptingly handed out at the fish shop and ask in a I am not to be voice It it may be sad truth but It is the truth nevertheless that your specific fish may have been caught four or seven oc one year ago The fish man was tell ing you the literal truth when he said that the fish was one of that shipment The fish man did not put your flsh Into cold storage He bought It out of cold storage But you did not ask him anything about that did you? exclusive JYlarOll shoe store 26 and 28 'Washington St A RKAND NEW fJIIOW 1'OK TIRED CIRCUS LOVERS CULVER BLACK HORSE TROOP Military Exhibition Circus Hlppoclrums Wild West Olyuipto Chariot Room I I ir' 1 fr I tic Sr tr 'h 'i 1 'it?
