and Mrs. Samuel L. Bates of Wymore announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter. Celesta, to John R. Hedge, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Verne Hedge. The wedding will be an event of Saturday morning. May 10, and the marriage will be solemnized at St. Mary's cathedral in Wymore.

Miss Bates is a former student at the University of Nebraska. Mr. Hedge was graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. CHAIN-ROGERS Mr. and Mrs.

A. B. Chain of Seward announce the engagement of their daughter, Priscilla, to Wilbur F. Rogers, son of Mrs. Bertha Rogers, of Lincoln.

Miss Chain will be graduated in June from the University of Nebraska. She is a member of Kappxa Alpha Theta. Mr. Rogers received his degree of master of science in geology in January, and is a member of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, honorary geology fraternity, and of Alpha Tau Omega. The wedding will take place early in June.

LONNQUIST-WELLS. Rev. and Mrs. J. O.

Lonnquist of Elgin, announce the engagement of their daughter, Gail of Evanston, III, to Woodrow F. Wells of Washington, D. son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wells of Martell.

They will be'married in early summer. Both formerly lived in Lincoln and were graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce. Miss Lonnquist has studied music at the University of Nebraska and at Northwestern university in Evanston and is now secretary for the Alumni association at Northwestern. Mr. Wells has also taken work at the University of Nebraska and is connected with the Navy department in Washington.

HALL-MITCHELL Dr. and Mrs. Robert S. Hall announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Ruth Irene, to Sheldon B. Mitchell of Nehawka, son of Floyd Mitchell of Amarillo, Tex.

The wedding will take place in June. Miss Hall is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and is teaching in Grand Island. Mr. Mitchell also attended the University of Nebraska. KEELAN-KAISER Miss Ruth Keelan, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Keelan, announces her coming marriage April 27, to Bill Kaiser. The couple will make their home in Nebraska City, where Mr. Kaiser is employed by the Safeway stores. HOKUF-COLLETT Mr.

and Mrs. B. Hokuf of Crete announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Alyce Mae, to Philip K. Collett, son of Mr. and Mrs.

W. S. Collett of Crete. They are both graduates of Doone college. Miss Hokuf is the physical education director for girls in the Crete high school and Mr.

Collett is associated with the Crete State bank. GROTHE-NEWTON J4r. and Mrs. F. C.

Grothe of Lexington, announce the engagement and approaching marnage of their Marguerite, to Frank Newton, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Newton, of Milford.
