Missouri twice fumbled deep in Kansas State territory before Morrison, alternately hot and cold, riveted a 4 0 a tonchdown strike to Jackson to put the score at 21-6 early in the fourth period. Missouri paraded 80 yards in 17 plays to score with 5:32 remaining on sophomore Ed five-yard pass to Chuck Link, but K-State marched back to cap the scoring on a 3-yard Jackson sweep of left end with 35 seconds left.

The game-winning touchdown came only two plays after Dan Heck, the Kansas quarterback, tossed a pass from his own end zone and Gene Jefferson in- terceipted for the Cowboys, who were in business at the Jayhawk 14. Bobby Cole lost four yards but on the next play Pounds shot a pass right down the middle to Gant, who grabbed it on the two and stepped over. Dick Graham hit Steve Elliott on the two-point conversion. Kansas had gone ahead shortly before then by moving from its 48 to the Cowboy 17, where Bob Helmbacher kicked a 34-yard field goal against the wind to vault Kansas into the lead for the first time, 19-9. Trailing 9-0 at the half, the Jayhawks finally broke into the scoring midway into the third quarter when Heck pa.ssed 41 yards to John Schroll, who took the ball on the 18 and ran untouched into the end zone.

Gutur Bowl Joins Big Three Scouts from the Gator Bowl The Sugar made their first appearance at a Nebraska game this season, joining Cotton, Orange and Sugar bowl representatives at the Nebraska-Colorado game. bowl has been represented at three straight Nebraska games while the Orange and Cotton bowls have had scouts in attendance twice. Record Continued From Page 1C tion of the season moments later gave the Cornhoskers an opportunity from their own 35.

A clipping penalty moved the ball back to the 26, but quarterback Jerry Tagge had the right answers as he moved the Cornhuskers 74 yards in eight plays. The most notable gains were a 17-yard Tagge to Frosty Anderson pitch on third and 13 as the quarter ended and a 30- yard Tagge to Johnny Rodgers completion to start the seconii quarter. That hurried pitch could have gone for a touchdown had Tagge been able to get more on the throw as Rodgers had five yards on the closest Colorado defender. Historic Catch It was a historic catch even though it keep alive string of touchdown receptions in six straight games. The 30 yards moved him past Guy Ingles and made him gll-time pass catching leader.

After 54 yards on three catches Saturday career mark stands at 1,277 yards. 'The completion moved the ball to the 21 and Kinney got the call five straight times. On third and five at the five, Tagge sent sophomore fullback Maury Damkroger through the left side of the line and drilled a perfect strike into the end zone, his 26th career touchdown pass. It was beginning to look easy, but when the Buffs struck back to close the margin to 14-7 on a five-play, 53-yard march capped by the Johnson- Branch aerial. But the Big Red machine was running smoothly now and Tagge quickly directed a 10- play, 75-yard march for a retaliating touchdown.

A 32- yard pitch to Kinney opened the drive and from that point it was a run-oriented assault. Tagge departed from the ground game only to fire a second and 14 point to Rodgers which produced a first down at the Colorado 2. Jerry sneaked across from the one after Kinney had moved for one yard. Colorado, striving to stay in contention, gambled on fourth and two at the Nebraska 39 with just 90 seconds left in the half. But Johnson stumbled as he tried to sweep right end and Nebraska had the ball at its own 42.

Then Tagge raced the clock, squeezing eight plays into 83 seconds, to set up a 34-yard field goal try by Rich Sanger with 0:02 showing on the clock. Sanger, a native Coloradoan, had an 0-3 record on three-point attempts as he lined up. But his kick soared high and true this time, clearing the crossbar as the clock ran out. Test Supreme That made it 24-7 and gave the Buffaloes the supreme test of having to score three times against the second stingiest defense to win. The Buffaloes penetrated to the Nebraska 27, 20 and 24 after the intermission, but each time the swarming defense repelled the threat.

Colorado netted just 63 yards, all on the ground, in the second half. Middle guard Rich Glover and linebacker Bob Terrio set the pace for the defensive unit with seven solo stops apiece. Terrio was in on 13 tackles, recovered a fumble and broke up two pa.sses in one of his finest games. Glover had five assists in addition to his seven tackles. The Cornhuskers capitalized on another excellent opportunity to drive 25 yards for their concluding touchdown late in the third quarter.

Branch, attempting to field a towering punt by Jeff Hughes, hobbled the ball and was hit almost instantaneously by Rodgers, who promptly covered the fumble. Kinney, who had carried three of five times to move the ball to the Colorado three, got the call again and took a pitchout around left end for the touchdown which made him all-time touchdown leader. The historic jaunt was by no means an easy one. As Kinney turned toward the a Brian Foster came up to challenge him. Jeff flattened Foster in a thunderou.s collision at the one and lurched into the end zone.

Foster left the game with a concussion. The Cornhuskers Van Brownson relieving Tagge, made two more trips into Colorado territory, but dent the tough Buffalo defense. Sophomore fullback Maury who scored his first Cornhusker touchdown Saturday on a five-yard pass reception, finds no third quarter running room here. Dave Orvis (58), brother of Herb Orvis (88), helped stop Damkroger for no gain despite a block by Keith Wortman (65).
