The two stars, Kaepernick at quarterback and Harding at running back, were major reasons for the two consecutive Central California Conference championship seasons.

Each of them won a league Most Valuable Player award over the last two years. And this season, both were Modesto Bee All-Stanislaus District selections after leading Pitman into the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs. But next season, like in their youth league years, Kaepernick and Harding will be on opposite teams. Both recently announced verbal commitments Kaepernick to the University of Nevada-Reno and Harding to Fresno State University to play football for NCAA Division I colleges. Both universities are members of the Western Athletic Conference, so they may play against each other in the following years.
