FRANK AND ERNEST by Bob Thoves QUESTION: Which hived of home is the fastest:' * * # ANSWIiR: The Thoroughbred is the fastest of all horses and is considered by many naturalists to be the swiftest creature in the world. He .seems to have a compulsion to get somewhere ahead of his fellows. The only possible challenger of the Thoroughbred is the Quarter Horse, who is possibly a match over short distances. From the half mile upward, the Thoroughbred is the fastest. The Thoroughbred has powerful lungs and strong legs and is more high spirited and excitable than any other breed. He has great courage and determination, with an innate desire to run. The body of tin's horse is lean and angular and looks thin and gaunt in comparison with other breeds. He stands high on slender, finely structured very long legs. His head is small and delicate in proportion. The look of his head reflects intelligence and sensitivity. Many of the characteristics of the Thoroughbred can be traced to his Arabian ancestry. He was produced by crossing of European horses with fast, dynamic Arabian stallions. 7-9 (Roy Myers oj'Syossel.
