Tsm Ccstack The meeting of the Board of Education last night was very harmonious, there bad been mucb talk of changes in the department and a redaction in the salaries. However, when the board got down to business the work was done in short order.

Only one change was made in the- department and that was in the nizht school. The salaries of the teachers will remain the eame as last year. Applications for positions as teachers ware received from Lizsie Martin, llossa M. Andrews, Gertrude A. Vinzent, Arthur Kilgore, Minnie Robinson, Mollie 'McUomas.

Gregaon. remarkable baa been in this country five years. Her, calved the great gold medal from the Paris Academy of and it was his work tbat was selected by the examiner-iu-cbief at the World's Fair as the best representative invention of its class. Most people think of inventors as men Rifted wito golden Drains that turn ent the most marvelous de rices wltnont exertion. As a fact, men of ideas are the hardest workers.

They live by the very sweat ot their brama; rn the eager pursuit of an idea, like many professional and business men, they forget that their minds are not tireless and Utat to rack their brains all day and far in 14 the night the nerrous system must have unusually good and abundant nourishment tbat will ouild sp its myraid delicate parts. The following letter from Mr. Gregson is an example that is better than columns of advice: Cambridge, April 5, 1394. Wills, Richardsoh Gentlemen: Having been subject for years to extreme nervousnese, ith its attendant want of I was induced, much against my will, to try a bo ttle of Pains celerr compound simply as an ex periment. The improvement that followed was so marked that ol my own accord purchased a aecond bottle and then a third, By the time 1 bed finished the third bottle I felt like a nee man, slept sound at night ana awoxe in tne mormon notn ready and able to 1:0 a daf 'a work.

Wnenererlno feel the least indisposed I at once take one or two doses, and that is an 1 require. in my case Fa ne's celery compound proved to be all that is said for it, you nave my permission to publish this in any way you like. Very truly yours, GEORGE GREG80N. His is the experience of thou.ands of others. Paine's celery compound feeds the nerve tissues, banishes, lassitude, debility, in ability to sleep, and prevents nervous pros tration.

When sn overworked and worried bra worker, no matter whether ftndent, lawyer, minister, or' mau of business, has suffic iently sinned against tbe laws of health he begins to suffer from disturbances of heart and stomach and to have certain signs of nervous exhaustion. He works with less ease, sleeps badly. Haw symp- 10ms come; giddiness, dimness ot sight, neuralgia of face or scalps with entire nights of sleeplessness. Many a man struggles on, icnorsnt of the terrible de mands he is making on an exhausted brain Diseases of the nervous system do not come without warning. Bbeumatism, dys pepsia, and diseases of the heart, liver and kidneys are loud ones for a prompt in crease of nourishment for the brain and nerve centres.

This feeding with jo.it the toon theie vital parts crave 19 what raine ct ery compound does. 11 is upon this rvjious power of nourishing all the ne vous tissues and purifying the blood tbat its lemarkable cures depends. 1 action is perfectly intelligible to every well educated physician, and tbat is juit whv Paine's celerv compound is so unhesi tatingly prescribed by physicians in every city, town or village, without exception, in the United states and Canada. it supplies -ica, new blood, full of brain and neire food it feeds worn-out nerve centers and exhausted tissues wherever the freshly enriched blood stream goes, The languor and tired feeling tbat without exception accompanies thin, lifeless blood, vanishes; the spirits are raised and a new feelins of health and life declares the pre ence of pure blood and well fed nerves and brain. Just arrived from Paris. lrkkC TO MAN. uoe smsMaadxl. IPLAITS: that the teachers earned all they got. In comparison with other cities they are cheap.

He wanted them ut to $1800 a year. In these hard mes he thought many would be glad teach for $100 a month.

After considerable discussion, on mo on of Mr. Reed the salaries were fixed io same as last year. The salary of the janitor of the Gar-lie day and evening school was fixed it $1200 ier an rum. The salaries of all other janitors were fixed the same as last year. The salary of the Department me chanic was fixed at $1200 per year.

Miss C. M. Ellis re)gned as a teacher in the iswett school. Miei Isabella Hun wa elected to fill the vacancy. The following tetchers were elected on probation for six months: Miss Irving of Tompkins, Mis Ferry and Miss Darro of Lincoln, Mis Wyckoff and Miss Carr ck of the Garfield.

Professor George Colby wss dropped ss principal of the night school, and C. E. Merwin was elected in his place. The other evening school teachers were re-elected. The matter of electing a janitor to the Swett school was postponed one month.

All the special teachers were re-elected. The High school board now met, and heard the report of the Classification Committee. This report favored reducing the nalarie of the vice principal from $2100 to $1950, and hnads of departments from $1830 to $1680. On motion of Mr. Todd the salaries were fixed ths sane as last year.

He said the High school was never in a better condition than it is at the present tim. All the teachers ware reelected, including Professor Tnrope, who is expected to remain on the unaligned list.
