Variety 3eries headlining .... comedians Jack Burns and-Avery Schreiber, and bowing^ in June 36\ A preview' of "this entry will be broadcast June 22. In addition, "The Corner Bar," a half-hour ABC-TV comedy series about the goings- on at a New York City neighborhood tavern, will be brought back for its second summer season. The new episodes of this show, which offered some good humor last summer, will start Aug. 3, with some alterations in the group of characters seen regularly in the program. Potential, But Two half-hour ABC-TV comedy series that arrived just this past midseason and. showed real potential, but never caught on with the public—"Here We Go Again" and "A Touch of Grace" —will have their final broadcasts on the network June 16. "Here We Go Again" is about a newlywed couple, both previously married, whose ex- spouses live nearby and, almost unavoidably, keep getting involved with them. "A Touch of Grace" stars Shirley Booth as a lively, modern-thinking widow who lives with her more conventional daughter and son-in-law. Unfortunately, "Here We Go Again" was up against the direct competition of two popular series, CBS-TV's "All In The Family" and NBC-TV's "Emergency," both of which clobbered it in the ratings. It never got off the ground. Miss Booth's show did a little better in the ratings, but not much because it also was up against "Emergency," as well as "Bridget Loves Bernie," a comedy series that inherits a large audience by immediately following "All In The Family" in the CBS-TV schedule. British Bases NBC-TV's "Sanford and Son," about a black junk dealer and his adult son, was based on a British series, and that too has become a smash. And now as the latest entries, we have "Love Thy Neighbor" and "Thicker Than Water" waiting in the wings. %%Xf$&'*> RES TAURANT FAMILY DAY SPECIALS OFFER GOOD AIL DAY AND EVENING WEDNESDAY SPAGHETTI MEAT SAUCE SALAD GARLIC BREAP THURSDAY LASAGNA SALAD GARLIC BREAD 1824 N. HURON, OHIO (UPI) Democratic governors, often reluctant to enter national politics, have called on President Nixon to turn the Watergate investigation over to an independent prosecutor. The Democratic governors' caucus, with 16 of 31 members on hand, unanimously demanded at the close of a two-day meeting, Monday that President Nixon, in effect, get out of the Watergate investigation and turn it o v e r to an impartial special prosecutor chosen by a qualified nonpartisan group such as the American Bar Association. At the start of their meeting at a resort lodge near Lake Huron the governors seemed unlikely to agree on anything. Watergate provided the push. the governors then followed up with resolutions to be presented to the National Governors Conference In July, opposing Nixon's special revenue sharing and calling on the President to re-establish price and rent controls. These were strong doses for the Democratic governors, who up to their latest gathering seemed all but unable to reach a common position on any sensitive issue. Watergate at first seemed to make some of them chary and it wasn't until the Monday midmorning news on the resignations of Nixon aides was brought into their closed meeting that any statement on it was assured. Now Planing Thru Weds. The Dead Are Alive HORROR MOVIES • Alex Cord # Samantha Eggar on* Show Each Night at 7:30 ADULTS ONLY $1.00 The movers in the meeting were Govs. John West of South Carolina, who drafted the Watergate resolution, and Wendell Ford of Kentucky who told the f group "it's time we stopped the minutiae. It's time we stop and take a stand." Sources who attended the meeting said at least three governors who had felt the caucus should avoid the entire subject for fear of arousing partisan backlash then "made a 180 degree turn" and voted for the Watergate statement.
