product The first John Deere front mower is pictured above It is the first mowing machine designed and built by John Deere specifically for professional groundskeepers The model pictured is a 20-horsepower model and is the first front mower off the assembly line at the John Deere factory in Horicon Wis Before this front mower was manufactured about 50 models were built on the assembly line and field tested by pros around the country Deere has found that such pre-production testing improves reliability on stock machines The new front mowers are now available at John Deere dealers chines and therefore help us find and eliminate any design bugs before they get into the hands of our According to Klintworth the field tests have been completed and the new front mowers are moving off the assembly line and onto trucks They are being distributed to John Deere dealers now The company will manufacture two models in 1984 The model F910 is powered by a 20-hp gasoline engine the model F930 by a 24-hp engine Both front mowers feature front-wheel drive power steering for the rear wheels low center of gravity for stability a zero turning radius with one brake applied and the ability to climb curbs and traverse ditches Three mower decks are available: 50-and 60-inch mowers for the F910 60- and 72-inch mowers for the F930 HORICON Wise Before John Deere started shipping its new commercial front mowers to dealers it built a limited production run of about 50 machines and field tested them before going into full production The company has found that a build helps discover problems in the assembly line operation in time to correct them before building equipment for customers The 50 or so machines constructed on the test line are distributed to commercial and institutional operators around the country for filed testing in real-life conditions Bruce Klintwortha marketing coordinator for the John Deere Horicon Works in Horicon Wisconsin said: is an advantage New TV station for QC The main reasons are the relatively high value of the US dollar which makes American products expensive for foreigners to buy and makes foreign products cheaper for Americans and the fact that the US economy has recovered from recession more briskly than most foreign economies giving Americans more ability to buy imports Those two factors have pushed American imports higher while making it harder for US companies to find buyers overseas Most government and private analysts say the dollar's value should decline somewhat by the end of this year and foreign economies should be recovering faster However no one is predicting a quick end to the trade deficits Today's report revised several 1983 figures from an earlier report issued three months ago With the revisions the deficit for all of last year was pushed up by about 8800 million Figures were adjusted to discount for seasonal variations WASHINGTON (AP) The deficit for the broadest measure of the foreign trade widened to a record $194 billion for the first three months of this year surpassing the previous mark of 8172 billion set just one quarter earlier the government reported today The Commerce Department report on the of international transactions showed a continuation of the pattern of the last two years: a soaring deficit for trade in merchandise far outdistancing the surplus recorded for trade in services and other financial transactions In the first quarter of this year the report said: There was a 8256 billion deficit for trade in manufactured goods oil and other merchandise up from 8194 billion in the fourth quarter of last year A net surplus of 884 billion was recorded for trade in services and investments up from 85-3 billion in the previous quarter Net unilateral transfers such as foreign aid decreased to 822 billion from 831 billion The current account showed a record 8416 billion deficit for all of last year and government officials acknowledge this total will be much higher
