to health and human services $309 million to transportation and the remainder to other state services including environmental and natural resource programs Without that money Jones said the state would have had to cut services or raise taxes Whether the lottery is in reality a legalized vice is a question that has been raised since its inception and Jones admits that the Daily Game closely mirrors the illegal game The Daily Game has gained its greatest popularity in high density urban settings among audiences that presumably played the numbers By Tim Moran Argus business writer The computer which has successfully invaded almost all aspects of modern society is given credit for the resurgence of the Illinois State Lottery in the past two years The lottery originally touted as a savior for the state's financial woes had almost gone out of business in the late 1970s lottery superintendent Michael Jones said The state-sponsored gambling game staged a dramatic comeback however and posted record profits in 1981 and fiscal 1982 Jones attributes the turnaround to the introduction of The Daily Game with its computer terminals The Daily Game allows players to "create" their own the Foundation board members will be meeting Aug 26 to consider requests for monies The Board of Governors has received 16 requests for funds from various local organizations service groups and social by Moline police after being captured in Clinton County by sheriffs deputies The theft charge stems from the theft of a dump truck in late July from the sewage plant in Moline capture involved a chase
