Geneva Farren, a patient at the Maplecrest Nursing Home. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thomas and daughter, Debra, of West Sullivan were guests Sunday of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Philip Workman at a dinner given in honor of Mrs. Thomas' birthday. Besides gifts she was presented with a birthday cake made by Mrs. Workman. Emmanuel Young, midshipman at the Maine Maritime Academy, Castine, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Vincent Young. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Daley and daughter, Julie Ann of Winter Harbor were dinner guests Sunday of Mr.

and Mrs. Malcolm Wasgatt. Mr. and Mrs. John Lounder of Ellsworth were guests Sunday of Mr.

and Mrs. Horace Myrick. Mr. and Mrs. Myrick entertained Mr.

and Mrs. Lounder at dinner at Milbridge Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baker of Portland arrived Sunday.

They will be guests of her brother-inlaw and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Workman for a few days. While in town they will call on her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.

Shirley Stewart, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia Stewart and other relatives and friends. Robert Adriance, Mr. Mrs. Kenneth Miles and Mr.

and Mrs. Reinhart Zilllitsch of Orono spent Saturday at the Adriance cottage, Bunkhouse, on Crowley's Island. They called on Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Young and Mr.

and Mrs. Vincent Young. Franklin Corea FRANKLIN Mrs. George Rusnak from Palo Alto, Calif. is visiting her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. George R. Joy, for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs.

Sterling B. Douglas, who have been vacationing here for several weeks, left Monday for their home at Brookline, Mass. They were accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Erastus R. Bunker.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nickerson from Falmouth, Mass. arrived at the home of her sister, Mrs. Walter H.

Butterfield, at Card's Crossing, Monday. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo B. Wilbur were Mr.

and Mrs. Harold Eaton of Bangor, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll St. Peter of Ellington, Mr.

and Mrs. Leo Butler, Earl Butler and Louise Butler of Bar Harbor. Mr. and Mrs. George H.

Bragdon and children, Barbara, Susan Martin, returned home Monday from a trip to Southbury, Conn. where they visited friends and also attended the World's Fair at New York. Earle Joy, who has been on an European trip for the past few months, is now at home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George R.

Joy. Also visiting the family for the weekend was Mrs. Marcia Joy, who has a teaching position at Swanville. Earle Joy has been serving as substitute teacher this week at the Consolidated School here due to the absence of Principal Dante Forni because of illness. Mrs.

Marjorie Wilbur is at Brewer where she is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gonyer. Guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs.

Oscar Jordan were Mrs. Warren Tate and Mrs. Dorothy Brown from Brewer. Mrs. Esther Crabtree from Berwyn, formerly of Franklin, is a guest of Dr, and (Local Artist To Exhibit In Florida CASTINE George Ortman, famed artist, has been asked to exhibit at the Collector's Art Gallery in Miami, from February 1 to March 1.

Ortman was selected as one of the outstanding American painters. The gallery seeks to present great collection of work by contemporary American art masters, for exhibition during this winter season. Ortman is presently on year's Guggenheim Fellowship. Mrs. Ortman is a painter also.

The Ortmans have spent the summer months in England, France, Spain, and Italy. He is also preparing show at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, which will represent 15 years of work. Ortman will be instructing at the center November 15 to November 22. The Ortmans plan to return to Paris and England for a spring exhibit, and in June he will have two months at lithography shop, Los Angeles, which has a Ford Foun. dation Grant.

Ellsworth ELLSWORTH Dr. Myron Klinkman, professor of pastoral psychology and counseling at the Bangor Theological Seminary will be the guest preacher at the Unitarian Church at (theirs. 11 Leo a.m. F. service Martin Sunday.

Hancock County Concert Unit Plans Renewal Week ELLSWORTH-As a spur to the current campaign for the Hancock County Community Concert Association, Douglas Smith, association president, has announced two outstanding concert selections already made for this season.

The Ars Nova Trio will feature harpsichord, flute and oboe in an unusual program on November 6. Later in the season the Brunswick Chamber Singers will present a varied program for a small chorus of 30 members. With renewal week well under way, plans for campaign week from October 4 through October Club Slates Two Bucksport Meeting Dates -The In Promenaders, its Square club Dance meetings Club October 2 and 9 at the Legion Hall here. PROSPECT HARBOR Mr. and Mrs. James E. Noonan have returned home from a visit with their daughter Florence Roslyn, and with their James and family at Indianapolis, Ind. On their way home they toured, in southern Canada few days.

and Mrs. Sherrill Wilson of McKinley were Sunday callers of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Noonan and Capt. Galen Seavey and daughter, Gertrude.

Cyclists Switch Vehicles, Take Ride In Boat BAR HARBOR Members of the La Jolla International Bicycle Club of California, enjoyed an excursion trip on Frenchman's Bay Boating Company's "Liberty" Sunday taking in all the historical and beauty spots of Mount Desert Island. The group was accompanied by Henri Agnese of Paris and Bar Harbor, who was their host while the group visited Bar Harbor. About 50 members of the club rode bicycles to Bar Harbor from Scarborough, their starting point, arriving Harborside Inn, Northeast Harbor, their place of residence while here, Friday. They were at Brunswick Monday; New Castle Tuesday; East Winthrop, Wednesday; will arrive at Sebago Lake, Thursday, returning to Scarborough, Friday. The September tour took in 450 miles.

From Scarborough the group will be transported to Chicago, where the October tour begins. They will bike through Illinois and Wisconsin for 16 days. The cyclists were much impressed by Mount Desert Islands beauty and expressed their desire to return. Blue Hill BLUE HILL Mrs. Florence Parker spent Sunday in Cutler visiting her sister, Mrs.

Muriel Campbell. Mrs. Margaret Wardwell of Nashua, N. is spending the week with her father, Lionel Howard. Mrs.

Zenida Luckins is a patient at the Royal Nursing Home in Ellsworth. Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Carter of Ellsworth, with their sonin-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.

Stanley Johnson of Yucaipa, have been guests of Mrs. Florence Parker. The first fall meeting of the Baptist Circle will be held at the chapel on Thursday for an day meeting with a picnic lunch at noon. Mrs. George Stover has returned to her teaching position in Ellsworth after being ill for several days.

An election of officers will be held at the regular Friday night meeting of Halcyon Grange at North Blue Hill Grange Hall. All members are urged to attend. Refreshments will be served. Halcyon Juvenile Grange met at the North Blue Hill Grange Hall Friday with all officers present. The next meeting will be on October 9 at 2 p.m.

Allen T. Mello spent the weekend in Farmington and Winslow. Stephen McGraw returned home on Tuesday after spending a. week with friends in Verona, N. J.

Richard Gray, who has spent a leave with parents, has returned to duties at the his U. S. Air Force base in Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Larry Druoin and son Gregory left Sunday to join Mr.

Druoin in Beverly, where he is music instructor in the Beverly schools. The Baptist Sunday School will start on Sunday with the following teachers in attendance: nursery, Sharrie Cousins and Donna McKay; kindergarten, Mrs. Ralph McKay and Miss Ruth Snow; grade one, Mrs. Milton Horton; grade two, Second Eight first grade school children, pupils of Mrs. Charlotte Morse at the Dr.

Charles C. Knowlton School, Ellsworth, are sons and daughters of men and women who, 20 and 25 years ago were Mrs. Morse's pupils. and Mrs. David Taylor. Refreshments were served following the meeting with Mrs. Vinton Beal in charge. Capt.

and Mrs. Alden Sewall and son, Anthony, to Rockland after Visitinarhes mother, Mrs. Charles Sewall, for a week. Miss Carolyn Billings of Norwood, was here over the weekend to attend the wedding of Miss Cheryl Eaton and Percy Brown Jr. Sunday.

Anita Guanciome of Arlington, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Snowman. Mrs. Flossie Powers and Mrs.

Rita Billings spent Sunday with Capt. and Mrs. Alfred Gray in Camden. Mrs. Powers' granddaughter, Miss Pamela Gray, left Monday on a trip to Switzerland.

Beginning with the kick-off dinner in honor of the campaign workers on October 4 at 6:30 p. m. at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, the week will have an interim report by workers to town chairmen on October 7. The week will be climaxed on October 9 with "artists' night" also at 8 p. m.

Smith pointed out that because no memberships or tickets can be obtained after the campaign, the success of campaign week will entirely determine the budget for the other two concerts. In addition to concerts planned for Hancock County, members will be eligible to attend outstanding concerts without additional cost throughout the state. Nearest will be the BangorOrono series which will feature the Indianapolis Symphony, the Paris Chamber Orchestra and an evening of classical guitar. The Rockland concerts will have the Lee Evans Jazz Trio on October 13, the Chamber Dance Group in November, vocal sextette and the Musical Arts Trio early next year.

Also appearing in Houlton, Augusta, Lewiston or Portland will be several fine soloists. the Monte Carlo National Symphony, the Helsinki Chorus and the Don Shirley Trio.
