(UP) Rivera of Alabama threatened Friday to duplicate the havoc wrought by - the disastrous Elba flood of last spring, as constant rains swelled them to steadily Increasing proportions. aiihmum, uoosa, Warrior and Taallapoosa rivers have left their banks at many points and threaten to go even higher. Warnings to persons living In the lowlands have been made. Sections of Birmingham were cut off by high water; Gadsden was Isolated from highway traffic, and a level of eight feet of water was reported on the Birmingham - Chattanooga highway south of Gadsden. The Coosa river near Gadsden was at flood stage and had overshot Its banks in lowlands east of that city. Street car service was disrupted to Alabama City, and 600 delegates to an adjourned convention of Alabama Baptists were marooned in Gadsden.
