The requests made by the Council that the board look into the laying of the electric road tracks on East Fourteenth street, and" the right of way for a sewer on beventh. street were filed. 23, 189L In accordance with resolution No. 1169 of the Board of Public Works, sealed proposals will be received in open sessian of the Board of Peblic Works, at their office In the City Hall, on Tuesday, the 9th day of February, -1892, from 7:30 to 8:30 o'clock p. for furnishing to the Fire Department of the city of Oakland, one thousand feet of two and one-half (2V2) inch fir hose, with patent expansion-ring couplings attached. Bidders must specify the kind and manufacture of the hose they propose to furnish, and subnit samples of the same. All hose to tend a pressure of 400 pounds to the square inch when delivered, and to be guaranteed against defective material or imperfect manufacture for the period of three years from the time of purchase.

The hose fuxnishedehall be delivered to the city of Oakland within 3u days after the execution of the contract, and to be subject to the approval of Chief Kngireer of the Fire Department and to the satisfaction of the Board of Public Works. All bids most be made upon the blank forms of the Board, which will be furnished upon application by the Secretary. All bids innst be accompanied by a check certified by some responsible bank, made payable to the order of J. M. Brady, Clerk of the Council, for not less than ten per cent of the proposal, which check ahaii be forfeited to the City of Oakland should the bidder receiving the award fall within five davs to enter Into a contract and furnish a good ant sufficient bond in a sum not to exceed 1300 for the faithful performance of the same.

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE City of Oakland deems it to be required by the public interest and convenience, and hereby orders the following street work to be done according to the specifications therefor adopted Or herein mentioned, or as contained in its Resolution No. 13.647 to wit: That East Twentv-first street in said city, from the center line of Eighth avenue to a point 150 icet soatneast 01 tne southeast line ox jugntn avenue, be sewered with an eight-inch vitri fied ironstone pipe sewer. Also one iron ventilating manhole 10 feet east of the sewer in 8th avenue and one brick ventilating manhole at head of the sewer be constructed thereon. Also that 6 branches of 6-lnch openings be con-atracted thereon. Let the City clerk publish this resolution for two days, and also for two days a notice of the work therein described, inviting sealed pro posals or bids for doing the same and referring to the specincations posted or on me.

He shall also post said notice with specifl cations, conspicuously, for five days, on or near the Council Chamber door. Said notice shall reanlre a certified check, or a bond, as pre scribed by law, for an amount which shall not be leas than ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal.
