n-nan 71 of Patten died March 4 2000 at Patten She was born March 18 1928 in Benedicta the daughter of Jeremiah and Annie (Lawlor) Brennan She attended Greenvalley School and Crestview Manor where she won numerous Special Olympic medals Patsy enjoyed music play-' ing cards dancing bingo and teople and after she met someone ind they were a friend for life She is survived by four sisters Gladys serving in the US Navy as an underwater demolition technician William was a manager of the -Trade Winds Hotel in Rockland He -was a member of the Jaycees in Bangpr an avid fisherman and enjoyed his family traveling and researching genealogy William was predeceased by his father Roy Foster and his wife Patricia Foster He is survived by his mother Marguerite Foster three sons Timothy Foster of veteran of World War II and a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge He was an avid sports fan During his early year? he foupded and managed the Old Town Redskins basketball and football teams He officiated at many high school and college sporting events He was also a championship bowler and golfer Mr Lee spent more than 40 years in the construction business both international and stateside as site manager and mechanical engineer He was employed by Walter Kiddee Construction Co Peter Kiewitt Sons Crow-Steers-Shepherd and Greenland Contractors He managed major construction projects in Thule FOXCROFT Charles A Bouley 47' died unexpectedly March 4 2000 at his residence He was born Jn Dover-Foxcroft April 22 1952 the son of Albert and Lillian (King) Bouley He was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy attended EMVTI was in the Air National Guard and had done carpentry and autobody work He is survived by his parents of Dover-Foxcroft three sons Eric of Dover-Foxcroft Jordan of Blue Hill and Brandon of East Corinth two sisters Sarah Dyer and Bea Bouley one brother George all of Dover-Foxcroft several nieces and nephews Graveside services at Dover Cemetery will be announced in the spring by the Lory Funeral Home EDNA A DEARBORN BANGOR Edna Dearborn 91 died March 4 2000 at a Bangor health-care center She was born in Bangor July 22 1908 the daughter of Carl and Alice Dearborn She attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School Class of 1926 and Farmington Normal School Class of 1928 Edna taught in the South Brooks Rural School and at Stockton Springs in 1929 and 1930 After this she was employed as head of the book department at Freese's Department Store for several years She then attended Gorham Normal School and received her degree in 1942 She taught second grade for two years in Rye NH Edna then moved to Portsmouth NH and taught second grade for 28 years retiring in 1973 when she returned to Bangor While in New Hampshire Edna was very active in the Portsmouth Methodist Church as a choir member Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Society After she e-turned to Bangor she sang in several church and community choruses including St John's Episcopal and Bangor First Methodist Edna was also very active in several women's clubs and church groups having served as president of the Norumbega Club Penobscot Retired Teachers Club Bethany Circle of King's Daughters and pres i-dent of the State King's Daughters as well as being a member of the Bangor Women's Club and the NcX Edna's church affiliations i n-cluded Piburn Circle and United Methodist Women She was a life member of Tuscan Chapter No 1 48 OES of Bangor and held several offices Surviving are a nephew Alan Wright of Mansfield Conn brother-in-law Frank Wright of composer of music for television and motion pictures who was nominated for Academy Awards five times has died at the age of 92 Duning who scored such classic films as Here to and died Feb 27 at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego of cardiovascular disease The former jazz trumpeter also was nominated for Oscars for Sings in 1949 two years after he began his contract with Columbia Pictures for Sad Songs for in 1950 and for Eddy Duchin in 1956 In the middle of that string of successful scores came Here to in 1953 and in 1955 During his 15 years with Columbia Duning composed music for about six motion pictures a year including No Man Write My Sister to Touch of and Book and Duning also composed extensively for television including such series as Big City and He wound up his long career as musical director of Aaron Spelling Productions Duning was born in Richmond Ind a center for early jazz recording He studied music theory at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and studied composition with Mario Castelnubvo-Tedesco Duning had started his own band at the age of 15 and after college joined various jazz bands as a trumpeter In the 1930s Duning got his initial career boost when he was hired as musical director of the radio show Kollege of Musical In 1939 when Kyser signed with RKO to do a series of films Duning went along as musical arranger The work was interrupted by World War II which put Duning in the Navy as conductor and arranger for the Armed Forces Radio Service British pilot Dominic Bruce dead at 84 By William Honan The New York Times Dominic Bruce a British bomber pilot who made no fewer than 17 attempts in four years to escape from his German captors at the famous Colditz prison died Feb 12 in England He was 84 Despite his determination and ingenuity Bruce was recaptured every time he broke free from Colditz Castle near Leipzig The farthest he ever made it was to Danzig 400 miles away He had jumped aboard trains and had stolen bicycles left outside churches while their owners were at worship That time he was finally caught while trying to stow away on a Swedish freighter He spent the next eight months in solitary confinement but the experience did little to curb his audacity On one of his several escapes he left a smirking note on the windowsill over which he departed spelling out in German the message: air in Colditz no longer pleases me Auf kept trying because it was he said after the war gave you a feeling like hitting the jackpot And most importantly of all I knew it got up the Bruce was repatriated in 1945 when Colditz was liberated He was awarded the British Military Cross for his escape attempts Bruce then studied history at Oxford and eventually became principal of Kingston upon Thames College of Further Education in 1969 Bom on June 7 1915 Bruce joined the Royal Air Force in 1935 and became a pilot In 1941 his Wellington bomber was shot down over Zeebrugge the North Sea port by German fighters He bailed out and was picked up by a German vessel Bruce is survived by his wife six sons and three daughters 1926 Photo HAROLD WOODARD SR GLENBURN and BANGOR -Harold Woodard Sr 91 died March 5 2000 at his home in Bangor He was born Oct 8 1908 in Newport the son of Herbert and Valentine (White) Woodard He graduated from Maine em' tral Institute Pittsfield and Barber School in Boston He was honorably discharged from the Maine State Guard in 1943 He retired after 30 years of service from Bangor and Aroostook Railroad in 1973 Harold enjoyed gardening and any work that involved being out in the fields and woods He especially enjoyed the seashore clamming and fishing He attended First Apostolic Church of Brewer He made his home with his daughter Patricia and her husband Norman of Bangor He was predeceased by his parents a sister Inez and his wife of 58 years Lovina A (Dow) Woodard on Feb 22 1 990 He is survived by one brother Avon Woodard and his wife Phylixina of Dexter three sons and their wives Alfred and Marilyn Woodard of Carmel Harold Jr and Christel of Derby and Miles and Harumi of Glenburn two daughters and their husbands' Patricia A and Norman Morneault of Bangor and Cintra and Paul Hopper of Hampden He she was a flight attendant and part-time publicist when introduced to Iacocca by former Florida Gov Claude Kirk They worked together on the team that raised money to restore Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty to celebrate the 1986 centennial Iacocca headed the project Iacocca had rescued Chrysler from bankruptcy and written a best-selling autobiography The courtship and brief marriage generated a wave of curiosity and media coverage around the country They separated in October 1986 and were divorced the next year She moved to Miami Beach and never remarried Mildred Limbaugh 74 talk March 1 of a liver malfunction She was 58 Palacios met Peckinpah while starring in movies in Hollywood in the early 1960s She was best known in Mexico for action movies such as Saint Against the and Saint Against the Ghost of the both filmed in 1963 Last year she starred in the Mexican soap opera Sandra Schmirler 36 Canadian curling star REGINA Saskatchewan Sandra Schmirler among the first Olympic gold medalists in curling and a three-time world champion died March 2 of cancer She was 36 She- was part of the Canadian team with Jan Betker Joan McCusker Marcia Gudereit and Atina Ford that won the gold medal at the Nagano Olympics in 1998 It was the first time curling was a medal sport at the Olympics Schmirler also won three Canadian championships and three world championships in the illness He was born in New Bedford Mass May 27 1924 the son of John Michael Kieltyka of Chicopee Mass and Maryanna (Chmura) Kieltyka of Warsaw Poland Mr Kieltyka attended high school in Massachusetts and continued his education at the University of New Hampshire majoring in history He served honorably in the US Navy during World War II Prior to his retirement in 1986 Mr Kieltyka had been employed by the State of Maine Department of Transportation for 18 He was previously employed by the State of Maine Department of Taxation and the Maine State Police For the last few years Mr Kieltyka has been a frequent contributor to the Kennebec Journal "Letters to the Editor" He served as assistant scout master of St Mary's Boy Scout Troop for several years in the late 1960's He was a lifetime member of Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post 2 of Augusta was active in the Toastmasters for many years was a member of the Slavophile Society and enjoyed several hobbies including following the stock market and politics His first wife Shirley (Stevens) Kieltyka died on Sept 2 1994 He was also preceded in death by his parents a brother William Kieltyka and a sister Genevieve Kieltyka Surviving is
