Wednesday, april 29, 2020 By Zach Spicer The Tribune Life has come full circle for Becky Schepman. The Seymour native did a summer in- ternship at 92.7 WQKC in her hometown and worked for the campus radio station while attending Western Kentucky Uni- versity. She also ran the board during broadcasts of University of Kentucky basketball games on 95.1 WGGC in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After earning a degree in broad- casting with an emphasis on radio and television, she became a morning show host and did sales and marketing for the station. ZACH SPICER THE TRIBUNE By Lori McDonaLD The Tribune When watching game shows on television, one might wonder what it takes to actually be at one of those show tapings. On April 3, Greg Kilgore submitted his resigna- tion as athletic director, junior-senior high school aide and golf coach and retirement as boys basket- ball coach. Goodin said it would be great to find one person to fill those positions, but it will depend upon the applications received and how the school refer- endum vote goes in the June 2 primary election. The resignation followed School seeks athletic director Crothersville also looking for boys basketball, golf coach state extends FaFsa deadline past april 15 The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has extended the filing deadline for the 2020- 21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beyond the original April 15 deadline.

The extension is intended to ensure as many Hoosiers as possible can access financial aid in the coming academic year in the midst of challenges presented by the coronavirus. Students who did not file before the April 15 deadline are encour- aged to submit the form at FAFSA.gov as soon as possible. The commission will con- sider students who file past the original deadline, however, limited funding is available on a first- come basis. The extension applies to the 21st Century Scholarship and the Frank Grant. There is no FAFSA deadline for Hoosiers applying for the Next Level Jobs Workforce Ready Grant.

The number of Hoosiers filing a FAFSA has decreased this year, which is likely because in-per- son, in-school learn- ing and many FAFSA filing support events have been cancelled. As of April 13, Indiana residents filed more than 215,000 FAFSAs, a decrease of 2.5 percent from the 2019-20 filing period. The commission mailed out FAFSA forms to high school seniors enrolled in the 21st Century Scholars program and hosted two virtual FAFSA fil- ing events, offering live help on social media and by phone for students and fami- lies. Efforts supported a 4 percent increase in the amount of com- pleted FAFSAs in the weeks leading up to the April 15 deadline. It robs you of strength and energy so you do all of the things you want to do, he said. It can take away your happiness and ability to laugh and smile. It can make your hair fall out, leaving you self-con- scious of how you look.

And at times, it takes away your hope for the future. But then there are the good days when you almost forget the cancer is there. For Juergens, one of those days was April 19, his 74th birthday.
