Take the Oath a Second Time. Jan. 8. Yesterday ie date for the meeting of the Castoria is Dr. Samuel Pitcher's prescription for Infamts and Children.

It contains neither Opium, Morphine nor other Narcotic substance. It is a harmless substitute for Paregoric, Drops, Soothing; Sxpips, and Castor Oil. It is Pleasant. Its guarantee thirty years' use by legislature. As predicted in Ispatches there was trouble in the L'ationof the house.

As the Republicans organized with twenty -seven members and twenty -eight is a majority it is asserted the work they attempted to do will count for nothing. The Democratic members of the house have been in caucus, but what they have concluded to do is not known.

It is probable they will have Hamilton sworn in by a justice of the peace and with Davidson and one populist organize a house of twenty-eight members, just a majority. The Democratic senators announce that they stand ready to recognize such a body. NEW YORK'S ASSEMBLY. Jfo New Developments In the Senatorahlp light. Albany, T-.

Jan. 3. The work preliminaiy to the organization of the legislature was enlivened by the arrival of New York and Kings county members. Jndge Griffiths and other friends of Edward Murphy Jr. from Troy, arrived and opened rooms 57, 58 and 59 at the Delavan house as the headquarters in which the senatorship canvass in behalf of Mr.

Murphy will be carried on. Mr. Lou Paine came up from New York and set about to accomplish the success of Hamilton Fish, in his race for the leadership of the minority in the assembly against Mr. Maltby of St. Lawrence.

This was really the contest and it is becoming interesting. Both gentlemen claim to hrfve enough pledges to secure success. Richard Croker came on from Richfield Springs and called upon Senator Hill at the Hotel Kenmore. Edward Murphy and Lieutenant Governor Sheehan were also there. After remaining with the senator for a short time the three callers, with State Senator Cantor, proceeded to the executive mansion and called upon Governor and Mrs.

Flower. None of these leaders will talk for publication. Assemblyman William Sulzer, the candidate for speaker, held open house at his headquarters at the Delavan, with Clerk Charles R. Denver, Jan. 8. Indications are that the Colorado legislature will not organize without the usual row. The Republicans have a small majority in the house but the Populists and 'Democrats have been rustling and claim that they will organize the body when it is called to order Wednesday noon. They claim to have secured the pledges of two Republicans to aid them.

The great interest however, will center in the organization of the senate. Of the thirty-five members fifteen are Republicans, twelve are populists and eight Democrats, the latter holding the balance of power, which in this particular case may mean something beyond obstruction. There are all sorts of rumors of combinations. One is that the Republicans, despairing of any accession of strength from the populists, will act with the straight-out Democrats in organizing the upper house. Some overtures to this effect, it is stated, have been made by Republican leaders, but as only a few of the Democratic senators are in the city their inclinations are not known.

From all appearances the probability is that there will be three separate caucuses, and hot times in the dignified bodies from the moment they meet Wednesday at noon. Tennessee's IVegislatare. Nashville, Jan. The legislature has assembled, but beyond the organization in the house no business was transacted. In that body Ralph Davis, of Shelby county, was chosen speaker.

The inauguration of Governor Tnrney will take place next Monday. A lively contest for the position of United States senator to succeed ex-Governor William B. Bate is expected. Senator Bate is making a strong effort to retain bis seat and at present the chances are slightly in his favor. His principal opponent is Robert L.
