incapacitated players in its wake In all six Black Bears fell to one injury or another including five probable starters on the defensive side of the ball was not a good weekend" summed up UM head That makes it hard to summed up the UM coach If been a single theme to inaugural UM training camp it has been PRESSURE pressure as in make practices as psychologically and physically demanding as possible for both the offense and the defense even beyond normal preseason standards "The idea is to put as much pressure on the kids as possible in practice so it is taken off when they play the explained Murphy And how is that accomplished? instance when running an offensive play in a scrimmage situation we'll tell the scout (defensive) team what play is coming That forces the offense to execute without the element of surprise Or we might spend a half-hour working against a blitz situation Our quarterbacks will see nothing but blitzes from every angle for 20 straight plays forced to react and get accustomed to executing under the pressure course you actually recreate game situations" Murphy continued you can make it close enough so that the kids are more at ease during the games as are the Another kind of pressure Murphy and his staff have been subjecting the Black Bears to is mental pressure as in throwing a lot of Xs and Os at the players and demanding execution Gagnon
