TUESDAY THE PITTSTON GAZETTE- -MARCH 5, 1929 COUNTY Directors of Hazleton Motor Club have instructed the solicitor, Adrian H. Jones, to take action against Luserne county commissioners because of bad condition of road between Selfertaville and Zelsel's Corners. The highway, it is said, is in such condition that it is almost impassable. John Good, of Hanover township, who was convicted with two others on charge of assault and battery, was released on parole by Judge W. A.

Valentine yesterday on condition that he pay one-third the costs of prosecu-, tion within six months and refrain from further violation of the law. Mrs. Mary Williams, of 36 West Market street, Wilkesbarre, died yesterday at the of her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Doody, of complications. Deceased is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs.

Myrtle Doody, of Wilkesbarre; Mrs. Anna Warner, of Broadheadville; George L. Williams, of Larnessa, and Arlington, of Appenzell, Pa. Sergt. Mathew McLaughlin, aged 55, since 1911 a member of Wilkesbarre police, died this morning at his home, 443 Hazle street.

Death was due to complications. Sergt. McLaughlin had been ailing for four weeks. Sergt. McLaughlin died about seven hours after his predecessor as top sergeant on the police force, Sergt.

Thomas McGeehan, passed away. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Wilkesbarre, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin McLaughlin.

His widow and four children survive. Simon on S. Tubbs, aged 81, died yesterday afternoon at his home, South River street, Wilkesbarre, of general debility. He 1s survived by two sons, F. R.

Tubbs, of Nanticoke, and Ralph S. Tubbs, of Orlando, and three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Dumbell and Miss Pearl Tubbs, of Wilkesbarre, and Mrs.

E. E. Mandeville, of Lehman; also one brother, William Tubbs of Freeville, N. Y. Prokop Czachel, aged 48, a blind man, who had been soliciting funds for some time, died suddenly at the home of Mrs.

Mary Keller, in Pringle, where he had sought a night's lodging. Two Wilkesbarre mine workers were injured by a fall of rock in Prospect mine, of the Lehigh Valley Coal yesterday. They are Steve Lasecki, aged 28, and Anthony Matsavage, aged 36. Mrs. William T.

Walters, aged 80, a resident of Plymouth, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Benjamin Davis, in Scranton. Mrs. Walters was born in Wales. Ralph A.

Pennington, formerly of Wilkesbarre, died at his home in Orangeville. He is survived by three daughters, his parents and several -brothers and sisters. Six men are being held by Wilkesbarre police following the death in Mercy Hospital of a man known only as "Frank," of injuries received in a fight on the city dump. It is believed a large rake was used to batter the victim's head. He died without regaining consciousness.
